I am a very proficient typist/keyboardist (if there is such a word)
I am also very proficient using a mouse
I am also very good at determining which method of input is best in a particular situation to not slow me down
In past there has been a keyboard shortcut to allow me to delete rows, lines or columns. Also to insert.
Those keyboard shortcuts have vanished in the latest releases.
Now in order to insert or delete a row I have to take my hand off of the keyboard, grasp the mouse and either right click to call up a context sensitive menu or go up to the Edit menu and choose from there. And then return my hand to the keyboard.
That may not sound like much of a hardship to most people, but when my fingers are flying across the keyboard, I do not want to have to pause to use the mouse, even for a nano second.
Was there a good valid reason for removing the keyboard shortcuts for these functions? If not please restore them. If there was a good reason, perhaps you could explain.
Thank you
Larry Hancock, CPA
Hi Larry,
this is the list of shortcuts in Profile, do you know which shortcut it was?
Thanks!
Hi Louis, I am on 2023.1.0 this is what I get for the forms shortcuts... How do you select Show Caption?
Sorry
I was on vacation for three weeks, and then sick
Just now... I am in Profile T1
There is a past T4 slip for which the client does not have an equivalent this year
So I want to delete the text in the description box
So as to save time, I do not use the mouse. Instead on my keyboard I hit Alt-E, and in the past I would then just hit the letter D for delete. But that does not work
Wen I hit Alt-E, the Edit menu does appear, and one of the choices is Delete Column. In past I could simply hit the D to enact that action. But that has been disable. Now, if I want to use the keyboard to select that action, I have to use my up or down arrow keys to scroll to that action.
There are other choices on that menu for which I can still use a single character on the keyboard. For what good reason has that action been disabled for DELETE?

Mario, I'm don't seem to find your forms shortcuts picture here at all. BTW, I select Show Caption by right click on my V2023.1.1's Forms Bar. My issue of the mentioned Form Shortcut labelling has been around even before the V2023.0 came out. Please help.
Ah thanks Louis, I am sorry, here is the link for list of shortcuts chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://intuitglobal.intuit.com/delivery/cms/prod/sites/default/accountant.intuit.ca/professional-ta...
Ok , I get it, there are 2 different issues here.
1) For Larry, the issue is that the Alt E key taking you to the Edit menu does not allow to press D to delete a column. I not also that the D of Deletr column is not Underline. I do not know what was the beavior before and why it was removed, but i will investigate.
2) For Louis , the issue is that the show caption is taking too much sceeen space, and if you dont use Show caption, you do not see the form name. I will investigate also.

Mario, my Form Shortcuts issue is NOT really about screen space there. Instead, my V2023.2 T1 & T2 shortcut icons all show the same meaningless graphic look instead of the actual form representation such as "Info", "S1", etc.
Loius, if there is no space issue, then just right click on it and select show caption. you should then see something like this

Hi Louis,
I select show caption by right clicking on one of the shortcuts..
After selecting show caption , I get this
So, if this does not help, please call our helpline
Thanks
Mario
Mario: Without the caption on, many of yours shortcut icons themselves also display these meaningless 's, figuring. In my case, only the "T1", "T2" & "i" are correctly shown in V2023.2. The T3 form's icon still shows "T1" instead of "T3". Very strange.
I agree for the T3 form will raise a ticket, that's in module T1 by the way . As per the other symbols, its designed like this , if caption is off you can not tell what form it is. Not sure what you mean by ''i''
The mentioned "i" is "Info", Mario.
".... if caption is off, you cannot tell what the form icon shortcut is ...."
It wasn't designed this way before the V2023. At least in my PC.
Thank Louis,
There is already a ticket for the shortcuts without caption on. I have raised a new ticket for the T3slip wrongly displaying T1
Coming back to this after awhile... is there a chance that the ability to delete items (columns, etc) from the keyboard may be restored?
Thank you

Hello Larry, do you know what was the latest version of Profile where the function key for Insert a row or delete a row existed?
Sorry, I cannot be specific. I update my software as soon as an update is available and cannot look back
I can say that the functionality was available during tax season a year ago - so up until June 2023 at least. And I first posted a message with this request in November 2023
So the change would have happened with a release somewhere between those dates

Hah!
I just noticed that the ability to delete using the keyboard (Alt-E, D) is available in pretty much all modules EXCEPT 2023 T1
I was working on a 2022 T1 and was using that shortcut... and suddenly realized just that.. I was using that shortcut. It works in 2022 T1 module (when I look at the Edit menu the D in the word Delete is underscored, indicating that the function exists). And looking further this is the case with most modules
So the inability to use this function appears to be in the 2023 T1 module only

Are you on 3.0? because I dont see this in 2022T1 module
