Hello. I'm with a firm in Calgary, and one of our clients started a new job with a Quebec employer in 2020. He received a Quebec RL-1 slip showing Quebec taxes and QPP being deducted. But he's never moved or travelled to Quebec. All his work was done here in Calgary.
If I tell Profile that his province of residence was Alberta, I can't access the Quebec forms even though we got a OnePay upgrade If I set the province to Quebec, which is wrong, he'll be owing ~$35k in Quebec taxes which must be wrong as most of his income came from employment.
Has anyone encountered a comparable situation where you must file a TP1 for a non-Quebec resident because they got Quebec slips? Thanks in advance.

He will only be filing Alberta---just put his T4 where it belongs and bottom line on T4 screen says--income tax for non-resident of Quebec (something like that) make sure you put the taxes paid in quebec from his Releve1 in that box
I have not had occasion to record employment income from Quebec in Profile, but I believe it would be the same as in TaxPrep. Record the RL-1 as a T4 - in fact, they should have received a T4 and an RL-1 for the Quebec employment income. On the T4 Slip screen, record the Province of Employment as Quebec and record the income tax deducted just like normal, but put the QPP into box 17 instead of box 16. You are not required to file a Quebec tax return if it is only employment income received.

That did the trick, thanks! I don't think I've ever scrolled that far down on the T4 screen.
