"T2 Intuit Profile | 31-Dec-21 is not a valid date error" has definitely NOT been solved

With the latest version of the software, users have been reporting an error message and have been unable to print certain T2 forms and efile T2 returns because of a date format error

Profile has provided the solution of going into your Region settings in your Windows system and changing the date format there.

Yes, this is a temporary work around solution but it is not an acceptable final solution.

I am a proficient and speedy keyboardist. I know the ins and outs of many softwares and how to quickly input data. By changing the Region date format, this changes the manner in which I have to enter dates in other software, and here I am particularly thinking of Quickbooks and Excel.

Changing the Region date format massively screws up how I enter dates in those and other software.

Intuit Profile should not be dictating how I set the settings in my computer

For the moment, I can change the Region date format to print the few forms I need from the T2 module and efile, and then change it back after I have printed those forms, or efiled.

But a long term solution must be found so that I do not have to do this.

This IS a situation that would require me to change tax preparation softwares.

So the question is, IS Intuit going to correct this problem in a near future update?

Thank you

Hi

I have created an investigation for our product development team to investigate how this can be resolved. I apologize for the inconvenience this causes. Although I do not yet have a ProFile version when this will no longer be an issue, we are working on a resolution

Duncan,

I am by no means a coding expert, and have no idea as to how intricate and complicated the Profile software is, but this does not really seem to be too big of a problem. If I was the person who was looking at this...

1) When a date is entered into a field in the software, that date should be stored as a numerical value which is not dependent on the format of the date (see for example how Excel handles dates)

2) When the date is required for output, whether it be on a printed form or in a field for efiling, the software should be able to output that date in a format that is required, either a date that is meaningful to the eye when read on a printout, or when transmitted to the CRA for filing purposes.

Your programmers should understand the difference between the information itself and how that information is used.
