Good evening everyone, really need some advice on how to report a T4RIF slip on a final return.
Husband passed away in 2023 and received a T4RIF slip, meanwhile, his wife received a contribution receipt for the amount that was transferred to her RRIF account. Wife is the only beneficiary and the transfer was made in 2023.
Called CRA three times and the three different agents all suggested contacting the issuer (IG) to get a revised slip. Box 18 should be blank and his wife is supposed to get a T4RIF slip instead. IG said the T4RIF slip was issued correctly and instructed to use Optional reporting Chart 2 with a letter attached.
I believe the wife meets the exception 2 based on the RC4178. Please correct me if I am wrong. Your thoughts are truly appreciated!
we have an article for transfers under section 60L
Tracy88, Profile's guidance might work for you. But before filing, double check the schedule 7 to make sure you are not accidently carrying forward unused contributions (see line 18 of the s7)
