Ireland Quick-Look FAQ: Autumn 2021

We want you to be able to get the help you need when you need it so that you can get back to business. That’s why we’ve put together a list of FAQs from our Irish customers that answer your most asked questions from the last quarter.

How do I  set up multiple VAT agencies? This is especially important with the intro of the OSS scheme for e-commerce businesses that sell to other EU countries.

First, you will need to follow the steps to set up VAT in your QuickBooks account. To set up multiple VAT agencies, you will need to create a custom tax agency.  To view your new VAT agency, click on the drop-down arrow next to the current VAT agency or click the arrow on the right side of the Taxes dashboard.

Quick-tip: If you change between cash and accrual VAT, we recommend that you switch methods after a filed period has been submitted. Once you select Save, QuickBooks will change the accounting scheme from that day onwards and will retrospectively adjust the liability amounts.

How do I send invoices to my clients with WhatsApp on my mobile device?

You can now send invoices to your customers with Whatsapp via your mobile device, and desktop application.

To send invoices through WhatsApp on your QuickBooks mobile app:

  1. On your mobile, open QuickBooks Online App, and select Activity.
  2. Click on and open the invoice from the below list you wish to send.
  3. Select Preview & Send.
  4. From the preview screen, select WhatsApp button (bottom right).
  5. On the Share Screen, select WhatsApp App to open application.
  6. Search and select your customer in WhatsApp App.
  7. Add your message in the chatbox.
  8. Tap the Green Send Arrow (right facing) to share the invoice with your customer.

Quick-tip: Sharing with WhatsApp is just for links to invoices at this time. Sales receipts, estimates, and PDFs are not available.

How do I upload receipts and bills into QuickBooks Online?

You can upload receipts directly from your mobile device into QuickBooks Online, as well as from your comput... After you upload your receipt or bill, QuickBooks extracts info from it and creates a transaction for you to review. Then, you can edit the receipt or bill, add it to an account, or match it to an existing transaction in the Receipts tab.

How do I add my accountant to my QuickBooks Online file?

You can add up to two accountants in your Quickbooks Online file. This gives your accountant access to your books and accounting info. They also have accountant-specific tools to help them with their reviews.

Quick-tip: Regular accountant users don't count toward your user limit. However, if you also make your accountant your company’s primary admin, they will count.

Help! I am new to QuickBooks Online and need to set up my VAT.

We are here with the steps to help you get started with VAT in QuickBooks Online.  QuickBooks can automatically do the VAT calculations for you on your invoices and receipts for easy and accurate filings. Then, it lets you know when your tax payment is due, so you can file on time and avoid extra fees.

Quick-tip: Check out this video for step-by-step instructions on setting up your VAT

I need help reconciling my accounts.

QuickBooks helps you reconcile your accounts so they always match your bank and credit card statements. Start with having your bank statement in hand, and then compare each transaction with the ones entered into QuickBooks. If everything matches, you know your accounts are balanced and accurate. We recommend reconciling your checking, savings, and credit card accounts every month. Here's how to get started. Or check out our complete reconciliation guide.

Quick-tip: If you are reconciling for the first time, we always recommend working with an accountant or bookkeeper to ensure your books stay clean and correct.

I need help resetting my password to login to my account.

If you forgot your QuickBooks Online sign-in info, or are locked out of your account- no worries. We are here to help you reset your password and get your user ID so you can get back to business.

Quick-Tip: To proceed with the password reset or user ID recovery, you need to have access to the email you used when you signed up for QuickBooks Online. If you no longer have access, send us an email change request.
