Learn how to create your QuickBooks Online Accountant firm to connect with clients and access powerful accounting tools.

QuickBooks Online Accountant is your central hub for managing your clients' books. This specialised version of QuickBooks allows you to review accounts, edit transactions, and fix issues for your clients. It also includes enhanced bookkeeping tools and exclusive accountant benefits.

Note: QuickBooks Online Accountant is intended for accountants and bookkeepers who support clients on QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Creating your QuickBooks Online Accountant firm

You can create your firm in two ways: directly from our website or through an invitation from a client.

Tip: Even if you have an existing Intuit ID, we recommend creating a new profile with your business email to keep your firm's work separate.

  1. Go to the QuickBooks Online Accountant website.
  2. Choose the appropriate sign-up option:
  • If you are new to Intuit or want to create a brand new profile for your firm, select Sign up for free and follow the on-screen steps to create your account.
  • If you want to use your existing Intuit user ID, sign in with your credentials, select Create firm, and follow the prompts.

If a client has invited you to be their accountant, you can set up your firm directly from their email.

  1. Ask your client to invite you to be their accountant.
    • To create a new profile, have them send the invitation to the email address you want to use for your firm.
    • To connect to your existing account, ensure they send the invitation to the email address associated with your Intuit ID.
  2. Open the invite email and select the Accept Invitation link.
  3. Follow the steps to create and set up your new QuickBooks Online Accountant firm. If you're using an existing ID, you'll be asked to sign in.
