Fix bank connection error 324 in QuickBooks Online and Intuit Enterprise Suite

by Intuit•7344• Updated about 11 hours ago

Learn how to fix bank connection error 324 in QuickBooks Online and Intuit Enterprise Suite.

Error 324 happens when QuickBooks can't find your bank accounts. Your bank may still be active, but transactions have stopped downloading for those accounts. Restore the connection so QuickBooks can find and sync your bank again.

Important: These two best practices prevent the most common causes of connection errors.

  • Have one person handle all bank connection setups and maintenance for your QuickBooks company.
  • When reconnecting, always select All Accounts when your bank asks which accounts to share. Do this even if you only use a few accounts in QuickBooks.

Common causes of banking connection error 324

This error occurs under various conditions. Review these scenarios to find the one that fits your situation:

When your bank updates your account details (like a new account number or replacement card), QuickBooks can no longer match the account on file. This causes Error 324.

Here’s how to fix it:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks account.
  2. Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Accounting, then Bank transactions (Take me there).
  3. Find the account showing Error 324 and select Fix now.
  4. Sign in with your current bank credentials.
  5. When your bank asks which accounts to share, select All Accounts or Consent All.
  6. Map the updated account to your existing QuickBooks account, then complete the connection.

Note: You don't need to disconnect the account. QuickBooks remaps your updated account details and keeps your transaction history and categorization rules intact.

Fix now didn't work or the updated account isn't showing

If it doesn’t show your updated account, try the following steps:

  1. Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Accounting, then Bank transactions (Take me there).
  2. Find the affected account and select Fix now, then select Disconnect.
  3. Confirm the disconnection.
  4. Select Add Account, search for your bank, and sign in with your current credentials.
  5. Select your updated account.

Important: When reconnecting, map the new account to your existing QuickBooks account, don't create a new one. This keeps your transaction history intact and prevents duplicate accounts.

Your bank account might have been closed or suspended, so your bank stopped sharing that account's data with QuickBooks. Since the account’s closed or suspended, it can't be reconnected and needs to be disconnected from QuickBooks.

Before you add a new account:

  • Disconnect the closed account first. Otherwise, QuickBooks shows an error saying it's already connected.
  • Make sure all pending transactions from the closed account have been reviewed and posted in QuickBooks.

Note: Once the account’s disconnected, no further transactions syncs for this account.

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks account.
  2. Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Accounting, then Bank transactions (Take me there).
  3. Find the account showing Error 324 and select Fix now. You’ll be redirected to Manage connections.
  4. Select the affected account and select Disconnect.
  5. Confirm the disconnection.

Note: Your bank feed for this account will be removed, and the error will be cleared.

Replace a closed bank account with a new one

Connect your new bank account to QuickBooks in a few easy steps.

  1. Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Accounting, then Bank transactions (Take me there).
  2. Select Link account.
  3. Search for your bank and sign in with your current credentials.
  4. Select your new account, then complete the setup.

When you reconnect with different bank credentials from the original (like a spouse's login or a secondary account), QuickBooks can't match the original accounts to the new credentials. This causes those accounts to get Error 324 and might show a mixed state in Manage connections.

Here’s how to fix it:

  1. Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Accounting, then Bank transactions (Take me there).
  2. Select Manage Connections.
  3. Find any accounts with mismatched or duplicate connections and disconnect them.
  4. Reconnect using the original credentials. The same login used when the connection was first set up.
  5. Select the correct accounts, then complete the connection.

Important: Have one person handle all bank connection setup and maintenance for your QuickBooks company. Always select All Accounts when your bank asks which accounts to share, even if you only use some in QuickBooks.

When you reauthorize or fix a bank connection, your bank asks which accounts to share. Selecting different accounts from your original choice removes authorization for the previously selected accounts and triggers Error 324.

Here’s how to fix it:

  1. Sign in to the QuickBooks company showing Error 324.
  2. Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Accounting, then Bank transactions (Take me there).
  3. Select Link account, search for your bank, and sign in.
  4. When your bank asks which accounts to share, select All Accounts or Consent All.
Note: This doesn't add every account to your books, it just gives QuickBooks a secure connection.
  5. Select only the accounts you want to use for this company, then complete the connection.

Important: Always select All Accounts or Consent All when your bank asks which accounts to share. This keeps your existing connections intact. You can still choose which accounts appear in QuickBooks on the next screen.

Every reconnection replaces the previous account selection at your bank. QuickBooks raises Error 324 for whichever company's accounts are no longer included.

What's actually happening:

  • Your bank only honors the most recent account selection: When you reconnect one company, it overwrites the account selection for the others. Always select All Accounts when your bank prompts you, otherwise it stops sending data for the accounts left out.
  • QuickBooks raises Error 324 for any account it can no longer find: When the bank drops those accounts from the feed, QuickBooks loses track of them. Fixing one company just moves the error to the other.
  • Your bank connection is still active: The connection isn't broken, only the account selection needs updating. Select All Accounts every time you authorize the bank connection to stop the cycle.

  6. Switch to your other QuickBooks companies and refresh their bank feeds. Most connections restore automatically.
  7. If Error 324 still appears in another company, repeat these steps for that company.

Note: Always select All Accounts or Consent All when reauthorizing your bank connection. Selecting specific accounts disconnects your other companies. We're working on a permanent fix for this issue and will share an update as soon as it's ready.

Tip: If none of the scenarios resolved your issue, contact QuickBooks support. When you reach out, it helps to have the following ready:

  • The name of the affected bank and account type
  • Whether you use multiple QuickBooks companies with the same bank login
  • Any changes recently made at your bank (new card, renamed account, credential change)
  • Whether more than one person manages your QuickBooks bank connections
