Fix banking error 324

Banking error 324 occurs when QuickBooks cannot find the bank or credit card account you set up during a connection attempt. This issue usually happens because of changes to the account information on your bank's website, such as a name change, a moved server, or a new account number. You can resolve this error by updating your account name or refreshing your bank connection in QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Why error 324 happens
Error 324 indicates a connection break between QuickBooks and your financial institution. This disruption may occur due to the following reasons:
- Your bank or credit card company moved your account to a new server or changed the account details.
- You updated the account name or other information on your financial institution's website.
- A new account or credit card was issued by your bank.
- The bank or credit card account has been closed.
- Multiple accounts with the same bank share identical names.
Rename an account with a duplicate name
If you have multiple accounts with the same name, you must make the names unique to resolve the connection error.
In QuickBooks Online
To make the bank account’s name unique, you can rename it with the following steps.
- Go to All apps
, then Accounting, then Bank transactions (Take me there). - Select the bank account that you want to rename, then select the pencil
icon. - Select Edit account details.
- In the Account Name field, update the name of the account. Then, select Save.
In QuickBooks Self-Employed
- Go to Settings
. - In the Transactions column, select Manage accounts.
- Select the pencil
icon beside the account that you want to rename. - Enter the new name of the account in the field. When finished, click outside of the name field to save your changes.
Update and check your connection in QuickBooks
In QuickBooks Online
- Go to All apps
, then Accounting, then Bank transactions (Take me there). - Select
 Update. - If you still see the error, look for a banner on the Banking page. Select the Check connections link and follow the steps to fix the issue.
In QuickBooks Self-Employed
- Sign in to QuickBooks Self-Employed.
- Select the profileÂ
icon and then Manage accounts. - Select Refresh all.
- If you still see the error, go to the Transactions menu. Look for a banner. Select the Check connections link and follow the steps to fix the issue.

Reconnect a new bank account or credit card
If your bank issued a new account number or card, you may need to link it as a new connection.
Keep your old account history
- Follow the steps to disconnect the old account.
- Follow the steps to connect or link the new account.
Start a new account and merge data
- Follow the steps to create a new account in QuickBooks Online.
- Follow the steps to disconnect the old account.
- Follow the steps to merge the old and the new accounts.
