Is Lightning Experience supported?
Mailchimp for Salesforce supports both Classic and Lightning versions of Salesforce. All Mailchimp guides and tutorials refer to the Classic layout, unless otherwise noted.
What are person accounts? Are they supported?
Person accounts are a hybrid of contacts and accounts within Salesforce, so each person account is a separate contact and account record. Unlike other accounts in Salesforce, which are designed for business to business, person accounts are for companies that use a business-to-consumer model.
Person accounts are supported for use with Mailchimp for Salesforce.
What happens when a contact is deleted in Mailchimp?
When a contact is deleted from an audience in Mailchimp, it doesn't affect the profile of the associated contact or lead in Salesforce.
What happens when a contact opts-out in Salesforce?
If a lead or contact opts-out in Salesforce after they are added to your Mailchimp audience, they will remain subscribed in Mailchimp.
What happens when an audience is deleted in Mailchimp?
When an audience is deleted in Mailchimp, it doesn't affect the profiles of the associated contacts or leads in Salesforce.
What happens when a contact unsubscribes from a Mailchimp audience?
When a subscribed contact unsubscribes from a Mailchimp audience, their subscription status appears on the Mailchimp Subscriptions page. To view this page, navigate to the Contact or Lead record, and click Manage Subscriptions in the Mailchimp Membership Visualforce page.
The Email Opt Out field on their Salesforce Contact or Lead record will not change.
What happens when a contact or lead’s email address is changed?
If a contact or lead’s email address is changed or updated, a new contact is created. This happens whether the email address is changed in either Mailchimp or Salesforce.
How can I create Salesforce leads from Mailchimp contacts?
You’ll need to activate a specific setting in order to create Salesforce leads from Mailchimp contacts. For more information on how to do this and for when information is synced, check out Turn on data sync and lead creation in Connect Your Salesforce Account to Mailchimp.
When is my contact or lead information updated?
Contacts and leads are updated during automatic data sync based on the date in the Profile Updated field for the associated contact profile in Mailchimp. The contact or lead profile in Salesforce will display the information that was available during the most recent sync.
Manual queries will add new contacts to your Mailchimp audience. To update groups or tags for existing contacts, update in Salesforce before you run your manual query.
When is my email activity updated?
As part of data sync, email activity is updated daily at midnight. Data sync passes over the 50 most recent instances of email activity, like sends, opens, and clicks, for each lead or contact added to your Mailchimp audience.
How do groups work in the Salesforce integration?
Use the automatic Query Builder to add contacts and leads to groups. You can also add contacts to groups through their Contacts or Leads record in Salesforce. Keep in mind that manual queries will add new contacts to your Mailchimp audience, but won't update existing contact information.
Groups can't be created in Salesforce, and must be created in your Mailchimp account.
How are tags used in Mailchimp for Salesforce?
Use the Query Builder to create tags that are added to your Mailchimp account. These tags will update as leads and subscribers meet the query criteria.
If a contact or lead is updated in Salesforce and no longer meets the query criteria, they won't be removed from the tag in Mailchimp. If you need to remove a contact from a tag, you'll need to do that manually from your Mailchimp account.
How does Mailchimp for Salesforce use the API?
Mailchimp for Salesforce makes calls against the Mailchimp Marketing API rather than the Salesforce API.
Which data takes priority when Salesforce and Mailchimp are synced?
Salesforce data always takes priority over Mailchimp data when data sync is enabled. If a Mailchimp contact profile is edited, those changes will not overwrite the data in Salesforce. On the other hand, if a Salesforce Contact or Lead Record is edited, those changes will overwrite Mailchimp contact data during the next sync.
What are validation rules?
Validation Rules are requirements for field data. These rules need particular fields to be filled in order to save changes, need particular ranges of numerical values, or need particular date ranges for the field to be saved. Validation Rules are set separately for contacts and leads within Salesforce.
