Disconnect Mailchimp for Salesforce

You may need to disconnect and reconnect Mailchimp for Salesforce for troubleshooting purposes, or disconnect because you no longer need the app. You can do this at any time.
In this article, you'll learn how to disconnect Mailchimp for Salesforce.
This article tells you how to use a Mailchimp for Salesforce integration that was set up before May 1, 2024.

Before you start
Here are some things to know before you begin this process.
- Subscriber data stored in Mailchimp won't be affected when you disconnect and reconnect Mailchimp for Salesforce.
- If you reconnect the app, be sure to rebuild any queries you created with the Query Builder.
Disconnect Mailchimp for Salesforce
Before you can uninstall Mailchimp for Salesforce, you'll need to disconnect a few things. You'll remove custom components from both your Lead Layout and Contact Layout, remove Mailchimp permission sets, and abort or finish any active Apex Jobs.
If you don't complete these steps, you won't be able to fully uninstall the app.
Access Page Layouts
To remove custom components from your Lead and Contact Layouts, you'll need to access your Page Layouts.
To access your Page Layouts, follow these steps.
- Log in to your Salesforce account.
- In the Salesforce navigation panel, click Setup.
- Under Build, click the arrow next to Customize.
- Click the arrow next to Leads or Contacts.
- Click Page Layouts.
Now that you've accessed your Page Layouts, keep this page open so you can work with your Lead and Contact Layouts.
Edit contacts
From Page Layouts, you can access your Contact Layout and remove any custom components you've added.
To remove custom components from your Contact Layout, follow these steps.
- Click Edit next to Contact Layout.
- In the Contact Detail section, click the minus icon next to each of your components: MC Subscriber field, MembershipContact visualforce page, SubscriberContact visualforce page, and SubscriptionsContact visualforce page to remove them from the Contact Layout.
- In the Custom Buttons section, click and drag Mailchimp Subscriptions out of the custom button area and into the left panel near the top of the Contact Layout.
- Click Save.
Edit leads
From Page Layouts, you'll access your Lead Layout and remove custom components in the same way that you edited your Contact Layout.
To remove custom components from your Lead Layout, follow these steps.
- Click Edit next to Lead Layout.
- In the Lead Detail section, click the minus icon next to each of your components: MC Subscriber field, MembershipLead visualforce page, SubscriberLead visualforce page, and SubscriptionsLead visualforce page to remove them from the Lead Layout.
- In the Custom Buttons area, click and drag Mailchimp Subscriptions out of the custom button area and into the left panel near the top of the Lead Layout.
- Click Save.
Remove permission sets
In the next part of the disconnection process, Mailchimp for Salesforce users should be removed from Enabled Permission Sets.
To edit permission set assignments, follow these steps.
- Under Administer, click Manage Users.
- Click Users.
- Click the user you want to edit.
- Hover over Permission Set Assignments until the pop-up options appear.
- Click Del to remove Mailchimp permission sets.
- Click OK to confirm.
- Repeat steps 2-6 for other integration users in your organization.
Abort Apex Jobs
After you edit your Page Layouts, you'll need to abort any active Apex Jobs. If data is being synced, it's best to wait for the job to finish so the Mailchimp and Salesforce data remains consistent.
To abort an Apex Job, follow these steps.
- In the Salesforce navigation panel, click Setup.
- Under Monitor, click the arrow next to Jobs.
- Click Apex Jobs.
- In the Action column, click Abort.
Uninstall the application
Now you're ready to uninstall Mailchimp for Salesforce.
To uninstall the application, follow these steps.
- In the Salesforce navigation panel, click Setup.
- Under Build, click Installed Packages.
- Next to Mailchimp for Salesforce, click Uninstall.
- Click Save a copy of this package's data for 48 hours after uninstall.
Salesforce will send you a link via email to download an export file. If you don't need to preserve integration data, click Do not save a copy of this package's data after uninstall. - Check the box next to Yes, I want to uninstall this package and permanently delete all associated components.
- Click Uninstall.
Salesforce will notify you by email after the uninstall process is complete. If you have completed this process for troubleshooting purposes, you can now reconnect the app.
