Understanding the Books Close dashboard

The Books Close beta feature in Intuit Accountant Suite is designed to help accounting firms manage and complete monthly closing tasks for their clients efficiently. The Books Close dashboard is where you go to onboard clients to the closing process, monitor progress, and manage tasks directly within Intuit Accountant Suite. Use it to track client close periods, due dates, assignments, status, and task completion.
Prerequisites
Before you can use the Books Close dashboard, be sure your firm meets the following conditions:
- Opted into Intuit Accountant Suite.
- Added the Books Close beta feature.Â
- Has had your primary admin onboard clients.Â
Access permissions
Only primary and company admins have default access to Books Close settings. To grant access to other team members, an admin must edit the role-based access control settings specifically for Books Close.
Using the Dashboard
The Books Close dashboard is the central hub for managing your clients' monthly closing processes. As clients are onboarded, their information appears on the dashboard.
Key Actions
- Onboard clients: Select Onboard close client to add a new client to the Books Close process. During onboarding, you will choose a close template and assign firm members to prepare, review, and approve the client's monthly closes.
- Create close process: Once clients are onboarded, select Create close to start the closing process for a specific period.
- Manage templates: Select Books close settings to customize your firm's close process. You create custom templates by copying the default template and modifying it to suit your firm's specific needs.
Dashboard Information
The dashboard displays key information for each onboarded client in columns:
- Client
- Period
- Due date
- Assigned to
- Status
- Task done
- Action
Customizing the Dashboard View
You can modify the columns displayed on the dashboard to better suit your needs.
- Select the Customize link.
- Add columns like Progress or remove default columns as needed.
Filtering and Sorting
Filtering
Filter the dashboard view to focus on specific clients or tasks. You can filter by:
- Client
- Period
- Assigned to
- Status
To apply a filter, select the desired field and then choose the specific value you want to filter by.
Sorting
You can sort the information on your dashboard by the following fields:
- Period
- Assigned to
- Status
