Create and manage dashboards

Learn how to use dashboards in QuickBooks Online Advanced and Intuit Enterprise Suite.

Dashboards show key business info like sales, profit, and cash flow. They use visuals like charts, graphs, and summaries. This helps you check your business at a glance without the need for several reports.

Note: If you use Intuit Enterprise Suite, you can:

  • Customize key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards.
  • Combine info from several companies.

Create a dashboard

Create a dashboard from scratch to show and track your key business info.

  1. Go to Reports Icon image of the Reports menu., then Dashboards (Take me there).
  2. If you use Intuit Enterprise Suite, go to the Company name â–Ľ dropdown.
  3. In the Search Magnifying glass search icon. field, enter the company name you want to create a dashboard for. Then, select the company name.
  4. Select Consolidated View to see the combined data from all companies.
  5. Select Create dashboard.
  6. Select the pencil Image of the edit icon. icon, then enter a name for your dashboard.
  7. Select Save or Save and close. The new dashboard appears on your company’s Dashboards page.

Visuals are key parts of your dashboard. They show your key business info through charts, graphs, and summaries. 

Note: The visuals update every 2 hours. Refresh your browser to see the latest updates.

  1. Go to Reports, then select the Dashboards tab.
  2. If you use Intuit Enterprise Suite, go to the Company name â–Ľ dropdown.
    You can either: 
        a. Enter the company name in the Search Magnifying glass search icon. field.
        b. Or, select the company name.
  3. From the company’s Dashboards page:
        a. Select the new dashboard you want to add visuals to, then select Edit.
        b. Select a period from the Period ▼ dropdown. Then, select Add data.
  4. In the Add data to charts window:
        a. Select > KPIs, then select a KPI. Or, select Create KPI to add a KPI.
        b. Select the pencil Image of the edit icon. icon when you hover over the visual.

    Note: The Edit Visuals window appears.
  5. Select the Setup tab. Then, select the â–Ľ dropdown list to:
        a. Select the chart type.
        b. Select a value for the X axis.
        c. Select a value for the data.
    Note: Select + Add Field, if needed.
        d. Select values to compare and sort the order of data in the visual.
        e. Select values to filter data.
  6. Select the Customization tab to:
        a. Name the header.
        b. Hide or show the values and labels of the X and Y axis.
        c. Show the label and select the position for the legend.
  7. Select Data to add more KPIs to your dashboard.
  8. Select Save and close.

Note: Select Generate summary to see an AI summary of all the KPIs on your dashboard. To update the summary, select the Refine â–Ľ dropdown. Then, select an option from the list.

Manage pre-built dashboards

We have several pre-built dashboards that you can start with, such as:

  • Profitability
  • Cash flow
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Accounts Payable
  • Revenue
  • Balance Sheet
  • Sales Performance (CRM)
  • Payroll
  • Time tracking
  1. Go to Reports, then select the Dashboards tab.
  2. If you use Intuit Enterprise Suite, go to the Company name ▼ dropdown. You can either: 
        a. Enter the company name in the Search Magnifying glass search icon. field.
        b. Or, select the company name.
  3. You can now view the company’s pre-built dashboards.
  1. Go to Reports, then select the Dashboards tab.
  2. If you use Intuit Enterprise Suite, go to the Company name â–Ľ dropdown.
    You can either: 
        a. Enter the company name in the Search Magnifying glass search icon. field.
        b. Or, select the company name.
  3. Select a pre-built dashboard to edit. 
        a. Enter the company name in the Search Magnifying glass search icon. field.
        b. Then, select the pencil Image of the edit icon. icon to rename the copy.
  4. Select the pencil Image of the edit icon. icon when you hover over the visual you want to edit. The Edit Visuals window appears.
  5. Select the Setup tab. Select the â–Ľ dropdown list for the item to edit. Then, make the changes you want in:
    • the chart type
    • the value for the X axis
    • the value for the data
      Note: Select + Add Field, if needed.
    • the values to compare and sort the order of data in the visual
    • the values to filter data
  6. Select the Customization tab then make the changes you want to:
    • the name of the header
    • the values of the X and Y axis
    • the labels of the X and Y axis
    • the label to show and the position of the legend
  7. Select Save and close.
