Add or customize pre-close tasks and additional items in Books Close

Add or customize pre-close tasks and additional items you want to include in a client’s monthly close process. You can assign due dates and team members to manage these tasks or items. Track their completion as part of your standardized monthly close workflow.

Prerequisites

  • You need permissions to modify the Books Close template containing the custom items.

  • Only primary and company admins have default access to Books Close settings. An admin must adjust role-based access control settings for Books Close to grant access to other team members.

Add or customize pre-close tasks

In Intuit Accountant Suite:

  • Go to All Apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Books Close, then Overview (Take me there).

  • Choose the client and time period you want to modify and select Open file review.

  • Go to Pre-close.

  • Review the standard list of pre-close tasks. Adjust it to fit your client’s needs using the following options:

    • Select Add task and enter any new tasks.

    • Select Delete Delete icon. to delete an existing task.

    • Select Edit pencil icon to change an existing task.

    • Select Assigned to to review who is responsible for completing a task and make any adjustments.

  • Remember to save each change after you complete it.

Add or customize additional items

  • After finishing with pre-close tasks, select Additional items.

  • Review the standard list of additional items. Adjust it to fit your client’s needs using the following options:

    • Select Add task and enter any new items. (Note: The UI uses "Add task" for adding items here ).

    • Select the Delete Delete icon. to delete an existing item.

    • Select the Edit pencil icon to change an existing item.

    • Select Assigned to to review who is responsible for completing an item and make any adjustments.

  • Remember to save each item as you complete it.
