Replicate a Template

Replicate a saved template to create a new template with the same layout and content. This way, you can test new designs but preserve the original copy.
In this article, you'll learn how to replicate an email template.
This article provides information on replicating templates for the new and classic builders. For more information on each email builder and their content blocks, check out About Mailchimp’s Email Builders.
For the new builder
To replicate a saved template for the new email builder, follow these steps.
Click Content, then click Email templates.
Browse the template list or use the search bar to find the template you want to work with. Only templates built in the new builder can replicate for the new builder.
- Click the drop-down, then choose Replicate to open the copied template in the new builder.
- Click the Pencil icon.
- Enter a name for your new template and click Save.
Nice job! You've replicated and renamed your saved template. Next, choose to continue editing or click Save Template and Exit to return to the Templates page.
For the classic builder
To replicate a saved template for the classic email builder, follow these steps.
Click Content, then click Email templates.
Browse the template list or use the search bar to find the template you want to work with. Only templates built in the classic builder can replicate for the classic builder.
- Click the drop-down, then choose Replicate to open the copied template in the classic builder.
- Click Rename.
- In the Save Template pop-up modal, enter a name for your new template and click Rename.
Nice job! You've replicated and renamed your saved template. Next, choose to continue editing or click Save and Exit to return to the Templates page.
