QuickBooks Desktop 2023 service discontinuation policy

Existing QuickBooks Desktop Plus and Desktop Enterprise subscribers receive version 2024 at no extra cost as part of your annual plan. Upgrade your product to avoid service interruptions, get the latest security updates, and keep access to Intuit services and customer support. If you have questions, contact us.

We'll continue supporting subscription renewals for existing QuickBooks Desktop Plus customers. However, we encourage you to consider moving to QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise offers the most advanced desktop solution. It delivers the broadest and deepest functionality and can even host cloud access.

• Upgrade to Desktop Enterprise from other QuickBooks Desktop products effortlessly - Your data stays on the same platform, and the user interface remains familiar.

After May 31, 2026, QuickBooks Desktop 2023 software will be discontinued. This includes QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, and Enterprise Solutions 23.0. This also affects other Intuit products.

If you don't upgrade by May 31, 2026, you will lose access to live technical support. You’ll lose access to Intuit services like QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, Desktop Payments, or online bank feeds. Discontinued versions won’t receive critical security updates. This may expose your data and product to security risks.

Payroll services

• Assisted Payroll: After May 31, 2026, QuickBooks Desktop 2023 won't automatically calculate payroll taxes, provide payroll forms, or send payroll data. Your subscription will be deactivated and tax forms won't be filed on your behalf.
• Basic or Enhanced Payroll: After May 31, 2026, QuickBooks Desktop 2023 won't automatically calculate payroll taxes or provide payroll tax forms. Your paychecks may show inaccuracies and your subscription will be deactivated. 
• QuickBooks Workforce (formerly ViewMyPaycheck): You and your employees won't have access to QuickBooks Workforce. You’ll be required to have an active Payroll subscription and a supported version of QuickBooks to use this service.

Credit Card Processing

• Payment processing: You'll get a message that the service will no longer be available. QuickBooks Desktop 2023 won't be able to process credit card and check transactions. The message will include instructions for processing credit card and check transactions outside QuickBooks.
• Merchant Service Deposit (reconciliation): After May 31, 2026, QuickBooks Desktop Plus 2023 won't be able to download credit cards and check info in-product.
• Recurring Payments: QuickBooks Desktop 2023 won't be able to download your recurring payments. These transactions will continue to be processed. You can manage your recurring payments at MerchantCenter.intuit.com.
• eInvoice: After May 31, 2026, QuickBooks Desktop 2023 won't be able to process eInvoice (email of invoice with pay link enabled). You'll be required to have a supported version of QuickBooks and an active payments subscription to run this service.

Other services

• Accountant Copy Transfer Service: You won't be able to send accountant copies in QuickBooks Desktop 2023 using this service.
• Contributed Reports: You won't be able to use this feature in QuickBooks Desktop.
• Multi-currency/Exchange Rate: You won't be able to use or activate the feature to assign specific currency types to your profiles and accounts.
• Online Banking: You won't be able to download transactions, send online payments, or send online transfers. The exact error message depends on your download method. For example, you may receive, “QuickBooks Desktop is unable to verify the Financial Institution Information for this download.”
  Note: Uploading transactions will also get discontinued.
• Email - You won't be able to email forms or reports from QuickBooks Desktop 2023.
• Shipping Manager - You won't be able to access the new shipping experience in QuickBooks 2023.
