Run background checks in QuickBooks Online Payroll

QuickBooks Online Payroll partners with Checkr to help you perform fast, accurate screenings on your employees. We offer three pricing packages so you can run background checks directly from your payroll account. This allows you to manage your hiring workflow and employee data in one place.

Choose a Checkr background check plan 

Before you can screen an employee, select a service package that works for you. 

  1. Go to Payroll and select Employees.
  2. Select the employee you want to screen.
  3. From Background check powered by Checkr, select Learn more. 
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions from Checkr to sign up for a package or sign in to your existing account. 

Result: You’ll have an active Checkr account linked to your payroll.  You can begin employee screenings immediately. 

Request a background check on an employee

Once you have a plan, you can request individual reports for your employees. 

  1. Go to Payroll and select Employees.
  2. Select your employee.
  3. From Background check powered by Checkr, select Send Request.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions from Checkr to complete the request.

Next steps

After you send a request, Checkr will run the background check. Checkr handles all billing. You can check the status of the screening by returning to your employee’s profile using the steps above. If you have any questions about the background check, reach out to Checkr.
