Learn how to charge different late fees to different customers in QuickBooks Online.
Once you’ve turned on late fees, you can charge different customers different late fees without manually applying them as line items on each invoice.
Important: There may be limits on the amount and type of fees you may charge your customers. You should confirm the requirements in your jurisdiction and how they relate to you.

Prerequisites
Before you can charge a specific automatic late fee to a customer, you need to turn on late fees in your settings.
Charge the customer a personalized late fee
Edit the information for each customer you want to charge a personalized late fee.
- Go to Customers & leads, then select Customers (Take me there).
- Select the name of the customer you want to set a late fee for.
- Select Late Fees.
- If the switch for the Late Fees tab is turned off, turn it on.
- Select Customize.
- Set your customer’s unique late fee charges, grace period and schedule.
- Select Save.
Turn off late fees for a specific customer
If you don’t want to charge some customers late fees at all, you can turn late fees off in their Late Fees tab. This prevents any late fee being automatically charged.
