Request a refund for your QuickBooks product

Find out how to request a refund for a QuickBooks product you purchased.

In most cases, if you purchased a QuickBooks Desktop product or an annual subscription for QuickBooks Online, and it’s within 60 days of the purchase date, you’re eligible for a refund under our satisfaction guarantee. There are some exceptions, so check our return policy for details.

Note: The 60-day money back guarantee does not apply to monthly QBO subscriptions.

If you made a purchase through an app store (Google Play or Apple's App Store), you need to request a refund through the app store.

Option 1: Fill out the request form here

You can use this form to request a refund for these products:

  • QuickBooks Desktop
  • QuickBooks Online
  • QuickBooks Self-Employed
  • Any Intuit or QuickBooks Payroll product

You can use this option even if you purchased the product from a retailer (such as Amazon or eBay).

To request a refund for other QuickBooks products, use option 2.

Option 2: Request a refund for other products and situations

Select your product or situation for detailed steps.

If you purchased from Intuit and it's within 60 days of the ship, download, or unlock date, you're eligible for a refund under our satisfaction guarantee.

Important: for Payments or Point of Sale hardware returns go to the Refund Payments\Point of Sale hardware section for the correct return address.

For software

You can request a refund through your Intuit Account.

  1. Log in to your Intuit Account.
  2. At the left, in the Products & Services applet, select Products.
  3. Find the product you want to return, and select the Return Product link at the right.
  4. Select a cancel reason.
  5. Click Return Product.
  6. Wait for the confirmation that the product return was submitted successfully.
  7. An email will be sent to you as your refund is processed.

When you request the refund, your license will be deactivated and you’ll no longer be able to use the product.If you have questions, you may also contact Customer Service.

For Hardware

You can return your physical products within 60 days of purchase.

We recommend you use a traceable method to return products. If you ship via USPS, consider using registered or certified mail, or a return receipt. We aren’t responsible for lost mail or products damaged during shipment. We won't reimburse:

  • Staples rewards used for the initial purchase.
  • Shipping fees for the initial order.

You can return your Amazon product within 60 days of purchase.

We recommend you use a traceable method to return products. If you ship via USPS, consider using registered or certified mail, or a return receipt. We aren’t responsible for lost mail or products damaged during shipment. Shipping fees for the initial order and product return won't be reimbursed.

To request a refund for eBay.com purchases, go to the QuickBooks product page on eBay.com. Select the Ask a Question link at the bottom of the page.

In your message, please include the following information:

  • First and last name
  • eBay registered email address
  • eBay item number for the product you purchased
  • Product license key (supplied to you in an email)

If you purchased from a retailer, you can return the product to us within 60 days of purchase. You'll need to provide the following:

  • All physical components, including manual and CD if applicable
  • A copy of the retail purchase receipt
  • Your name or the payee's name (for the refund check)
  • Mailing address to send the refund
  • Phone number
  • Email address (optional, in case there are questions)

Intuit recommends returning your product using a traceable method. If shipping via USPS, consider using registered or certified mail, or a return receipt. Intuit is not responsible for lost mail or products damaged during shipment. Shipping fees for the initial order and product return won't be reimbursed.

If you purchased from Intuit and it's within 60 days of the ship date, you're eligible for a refund under our satisfaction guarantee, by returning hardware to Intuit.
We recommend you use a traceable method to return products. If you ship via USPS, consider using registered or certified mail, or a return receipt. We aren’t responsible for lost mail or products damaged during shipment. We won't reimburse:

  • Staples rewards used for the initial purchase.
  • Shipping fees for the initial order.

Make sure to include an insert, listing your original Order Number and date of purchase, into the package.

If you purchased within 60 days of when the product shipped or the unlock date, you're eligible for a refund under our satisfaction guarantee. Keep in mind, we'll deactivate the product license as part of the refund process. You won't be able to use it again in the future.

There is no 60-day money back guarantee for education/lab packs, or resource guides. You may return these only if they have not been opened. Mail unopened products to the returns department for a refund or exchange. They may be exchanged if the wrong item was ordered or purchased.

You have 60 days from the purchase date to get a refund for product downloads, product unlocks, and all other electronically delivered Intuit media. Since there is no physical product shipped, you are not required to send anything back to the Returns Department.

Refunds for electronically delivered QuickBooks can be requested by sending an e-mail with a copy of your purchase receipt as well as the license number of the product to be refunded to EReturns@intuit.com.

If the processing time for your payment method has passed, get in touch with us. We’ll help you check the status of your refund request.

If your UPS delivery arrived after the expected date, please contact Customer Service. We will investigate the tracking history and issue a refund if it was late.

If you have a priority or discount code for free shipping, please have the mailer ready and then contact Customer Service to request a refund.
