Transfer clients in Intuit Accountant Suite

by Intuit•3• Updated 1 month ago

If your firm uses multiple Intuit Accountant Suite realms, or if your team members have individual realms, you can move clients from one realm to another. All your data transfers over, and you can still access it in the original realm. This keeps your firm's clients together so your team stays organized.

Prerequisites and limitations

Before you transfer a client list, review the requirements and limitations.

Prerequisites

  • The common firm user must be a primary or company admin of the source firm and have edit access to Clients and Team sections within the Account Management role permissions of the target firm.
  • The client must be in the same region as the target firm.
  • The firm must have an active subscription.
  • Canceled or suspended subscriptions cannot be moved until they are reactivated.

Limitations

  • A client using the following features isn't eligible for consolidation:
    • Books-to-Tax
    • BOX online document management
  • You'll need to reconnect any accountant-connected apps to resume data sync.

Transfer your client list

  1. Sign in to Intuit Accountant Suite as a primary or company admin user of the source firm.
  2. Go to Settings A bunch of signs that are on a wall.
  3. Select Transfer clients.
  4. Review the transfer description and select Get started.
  5. Select the realm you want to transfer clients from, and then select Next.
Note that you can only transfer from one realm at a time. If you want to transfer clients from multiple realms, you can return to this list for each additional transfer.
  6. Select the checkboxes for the clients you want to move to the new realm. You can select the column headers to sort the list or you can filter the list to display a more refined list to choose from. As you select clients, you’ll see a running total of the number that will be transferred.
  7. When you’ve finished selecting the clients to transfer, select Next.
  8. Choose whether to transfer team member access along with the clients.
    • Select See which team members are linked to the clients being transferred to display a list of team members and their access.
    • Select Search and begin entering a name to find a specific team member.
  9. When you’ve made your team member access selections, select Next.
  10.  Review the specifics of the client transfer and select Start transfer to begin.

Once your transfer has begun, select View transfer status to check its progress. You can also select Move more clients to begin another client transfer.

Managing role-based access

To change role-based permissions such as your company admin’s ability to manage your client list, you’ll need to access the role settings for Intuit Accountant Suite. Your primary admin always retains access to managing your client list. To learn more, see How to set role-based access control permissions in Intuit Accountant Suite.
