Move your QuickBooks Desktop Payments to QuickBooks Online

Learn how to move your QuickBooks Payments subscription to QuickBooks Online with your Desktop file.
When you move your QuickBooks Desktop company file (with QuickBooks Payments attached) to QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Payments will seamlessly be attached to QuickBooks Online as well.
Your QuickBooks Payments will only be attached if your QuickBooks Online Account Admin email ID has Admin level permissions on QuickBooks Desktop Intuit account.
Here’s how to make sure you QuickBooks Online admin email ID is an admin on your Desktop Intuit account:
- Open your QuickBooks Desktop company.
- Go to Company, select Users, then select Intuit Account User Management.
- Sign in with your Intuit account credentials.
- Go to Users.
- If your QuickBooks Online Admin email ID
- is listed as a user,
- go to Action, select Edit, then set the Role to Secondary Admin.
- isn't listed as a user,
- select Add User.
- Enter the User’s email (QBO Admin Email ID)
- Select the role as Secondary Admin
- Select Add user.
- is listed as a user,
- Select OK.
Now you can continue to move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online. Your QuickBooks Payments subscription will be duplicated and attached to QuickBooks Online automatically.
