Definitions
Here are some terms you’ll see when selecting a plan. Understanding these terms will help you choose the pricing plan that’s best for your unique needs.
Contact
An individual member of your audience. Subscribed, unsubscribed, and non-subscribed contacts are included in your contact count.
Contact count
The number of contacts you store across all of your audiences in Mailchimp. Your maximum contact count affects the price of your plan. Archived, cleaned, and deleted contacts do not count toward the price of your marketing plan.
Send
A term we use to measure the number of individual emails you send. Each email sent to an individual contact counts as 1 send. For example, 1 email sent to 500 contacts equals 500 sends. Test and transactional emails count toward your monthly sending limit.
Seats
The available number of individual users who have access to your account. The number and access level of seats depends on which plan you choose.

Types of Marketing plans
With a Marketing plan, you can grow your audience and communicate with them about your business. Create emails and automations, use segments and groups to target your messages, and much more. We offer 4 types of Marketing plans: Free, Essentials, Standard, and Premium. Whether you're just starting out, growing your business, or already working with a large number of contacts, we have an option that fits your marketing needs.
If you choose a paid monthly plan, you’ll decide how many total contacts you want to store in Mailchimp. The number of contacts you choose will place you in a pricing tier that determines your monthly bill and sending limit.
You can change your maximum contact count at any time. On a paid plan, if your audience grows more than expected, we won’t interrupt your service. Instead, you’ll see an additional charge on your bill until you update your maximum contact count. Alternatively, if you reduce your audience size and maintain that lower number for a full billing cycle, you’ll avoid future charges.
You can change or pause your plan at any time on your account’s billing page. To see a list of features for each plan, or calculate pricing based on your send limits, check out our pricing page.

Quoted prices don't include sales or other transaction-based taxes of any kind.
Add-ons
Mailchimp offers paid add-ons for users who want to supplement their plan with additional features.
Transactional Email
Use Mailchimp's powerful Transactional Email platform to send personalized, one-to-one e-commerce emails, and automated transactional emails like password resets, order confirmations, and welcome messages. Transactional Email is designed for developers and requires HTML and API knowledge to design and send email. To learn more, check out our Mailchimp Transactional Email Guides.
Add Transactional Email to Standard and Premium monthly marketing plans.
