Update business and account info

SOLVEDby QuickBooksQuickBooks Online536Updated 2 days ago

Learn how to update business and account info in your QuickBooks Payments account.

Change your addresses, bank accounts, and other business information in your QuickBooks Payments account to keep your account info up to date.

For the security of your account, here are some guidelines:
  • Users with Full Admin access can see and change info in your account profile. Only the principal's user ID (Primary Admin User ID) can make change requests to update the DDA (Direct Deposit Account) on file. If you need to change the SSN or date of birth, you need to create a new account with the correct info.

What you can update:

  • Legal Business Name
  • Doing Business As (DBA) - the name your customers see on their receipts. This must match the name on your deposit bank account.
  • Industry type
  • Ownership type
  • Tax ID
  • Website address

To change your business information:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Payments account.
  2. From the menu, select Account, then Account Profile.
  3. Go to the Account Holder/Business Information section, then select Edit.
  4. Change your business information as desired, then select Submit.

The deposit account you want to update must be:

  • Transactional (where Intuit can deposit and withdraw funds)
  • US-based account
  • Has the same name as the DBA field
Note: To update your bank account in QuickBooks Desktop (where changes in Payments are being tracked), follow the steps in Configure deposit and fees account settings in Record Merchant Service Deposits.

What you can update:

  • Account type: checking or savings
  • Routing number
  • Account number
  • Account nickname

Important: For account security, you may need to enter the last four digits of your business Tax ID or SSN number.

To change your bank account info:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Payments account.
  2. From the menu, select Account, then Account Profile.
  3. Go to the Deposit Account Information section, then select Edit (or Add if you haven't added an account yet).
  4. Select how you want to receive the code (text or voice call).
  5. Enter the code in the pop-up window.
Enter confirmation code to verify identity in QuickBooks Online
  6. Enter the Account Type, Routing/ABA Number and Account Number, then select Submit.

What you can update:

  • Physical and mailing address
  • Phone number
  • Merchant's service number (for your merchant to view)
  • Contact email

To change your contact infor:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Payments account.
  2. Select Account, then Account Profile.
  3. Select Contact Information, then select Edit.
  4. Change your contact info as desired, then select Save.
  • The physical address can't be a PO Box. You have different email addresses with your Payments account. Each one receives different kinds of messages.
    • News about your account goes to your Contact Email. This address also appears on your receipts. Account access messages go to your Intuit Account Email. Statement or deposit alerts go to individual email address you set for each alert type.
