Edit a customer's credit card info

When you accept credit card payments from your customers, there are times when you need to update their billing info. Learn how to change a customer's credit card details.

Update a customer's credit card info through the customer edit screen

  1. Go to All apps A bunch of numbers and letters on a tile wall., then Customer Hub, then Customers & leads (Take me there).

  2. Find your customer, select their name, then Edit.

  3. Find the Payments section, then select the current card number below Primary payment method.

  4. Select + Add.

  5. Enter the new card information, then select Save. You'll only see the last 4 digits of the card number.
    Intuit performs a quick validation on the card, which may result in the cardholder seeing a $0.00 authorization on their account. If the validation fails, the card won’t be saved.

Change a customer's credit card info in the sales receipt or receive payment window

  1. Select + Create.

  2. Select Sales Receipt or Receive Payment.

  3. Choose the customer, then select the card number below payment method.

  4. Select + Add, enter the new card info, then Save.
