Use the Notification Bar on a Landing Page

by Intuit Updated 2 months ago

Tracking tools help you see how your landing pages perform. Mailchimp’s notification bar gives your visitors a simple way to acknowledge your site's use of tracking and the opportunity to opt out of our internal data collection feature, Track with Mailchimp.

In this article, you’ll learn how to add a notification bar to a landing page in Mailchimp.

How it works

The notification bar tells first-time visitors that you use cookies to collect information about how they interact with your landing page. You can also use this space to give people the option to opt out of Mailchimp tracking.

The bar is customizable and will appear at the bottom of the browser window for first-time visitors. They can dismiss the bar by clicking the X or the optional Opt out of Mailchimp tracking on this site link. After a visitor dismisses the notification, it will not appear again for up to one year.

You can choose to enable or disable the notification bar on your landing page at any time. If you activate Track With Mailchimp, the notification bar will be enabled by default, but you’ll need to manually activate the opt-out link if you’d like to include one.

Use the notification bar on a landing page

When you want to include a notification bar on a landing page, you can activate it in the landing page editor. If you’ve turned on Track with Mailchimp, you’ll have the option to include an opt-out link.

To use a notification bar on your landing page, follow these steps.

  1. Click Campaigns.
  2. Click All campaigns.

  3. Click the drop-down menu next to the landing page you want to work with and choose Edit.

  4. Click Edit Design.
  5. In the editor, click the Style tab.
  6. Click Notification Bar.
  7. Toggle the Notification Bar to turn it on.
  8. In the Style section, click to choose a background color.
  9. In the Text section, edit or replace the example text as needed.
  10. If you’ve enabled Track with Mailchimp, check the box next to Include an opt out of Mailchimp tracking link.

This option is only available if you’ve enabled Track with Mailchimp and does not affect Google or Facebook tracking.
  11. Click Save.
  12. Click Save and Close.

Good work! You'll choose notification bar settings for each individual landing page you create.

Next, we’ll go over how to activate the Track With Mailchimp feature and how to include an opt out link for your visitors.
