When will my W-2s be ready?

Learn when you and your employees will get your W-2s.

Knowing when your W-2s are available is important to you and your employees. Select your product below to find out when you can see and print your W-2s and when your employees will get them.

The timing of your W-2s depends on if you chose to have us pay and file your federal and state payroll taxes for you or if you opted to pay and file them yourself. If you aren’t sure, check your automatic tax payments and form filing status first.

If you have auto pay and file turned on (we pay and file for you)

When can I see and print my W-2s?

You can view and print your W-2s starting January 13.

When can my employees see and print W-2s in QuickBooks Workforce?

Once you’ve invited your employees to QuickBooks Workforce, they can see and print copies of their W-2s after January 15.

When do you mail W-2s to my employees?

W-2 forms are automatically mailed to your employees by the United States USPS starting January 20 through January 31.

If you have auto pay and file turned off (you pay and file yourself)

When can I file and print my W-2s?

You can file your W-2s electronically or manually with the IRS, then print and send them to your employees beginning January 1. Make sure to mail Copies B, C and 2 to your employees. Per the IRS, W-2s must be postmarked by February 1 and received within 7 business days after the postmark.

When can my employees see and print W-2s in QuickBooks Workforce?

Once you’ve invited your employees to QuickBooks Workforce and filed your W-2s, your employees can see and print copies of their W-2s.
