Access and manage your personal data from your Intuit Account

Learn how to access your Intuit Account and download your personal data.

Your Intuit Account lets you download your personal data for all of your QuickBooks, TurboTax, and Credit Karma products. We’ll show you how to get your data, view the files, and view recent activity on your account.

If you need to update your profile, security settings, or third-party apps, you can do it right from your QuickBooks user account. You can also download all of your data when you need to. Here's how.

Download your data from the Intuit Account Manager

  1. Sign in to the Intuit Account Manager.
  2. Select Data privacy.
  3. Select Download.
  4. Select Continue to confirm. Requests usually take up to 15 days. How long it takes depends on the size of your request. You won’t be able to send another download or delete request during this time.
  1. Go to the Intuit Privacy site.
  2. Select Manage your data.
  3. Select Help me find my data.
  4. Complete the form with your information, then select Continue.
  5. You'll receive email(s) with any Intuit Accounts or data.
  6. Follow the  steps to confirm your identity.
  7. Manage your data and preferences. .

Open your downloaded data

Here's a list of file names, as well as a description of what each includes. Depending on the data we have for you, you might see some or all of them. If this doesn’t seem right, double-check if you entered your info correctly and request your data again.

  • preparerinfo.txt - Has personal info of tax preparer.
  • analytics_grp1.json - Has first grouping of data, each set has a small description of what the data pertains to.
  • analytics_grp2.json - Has second grouping of data. Each set has a small description of what the data pertains to.
  • firms.txt – Has firm info.
    • Examples: Firm name, contact and ERO info

How to open files

Once you've downloaded your personal data  from the Intuit Account Manager, use the instructions below to open the files and view them.

Unzip a file

Open a .json file

Open a .json file with the correct application. Right click on the file and select Open with. Select Notepad for Windows and TextEdit for MAC.

Wrap text

In the Notepad app for Windows, go to Format and then select Word Wrap. In the TextEdit app for MAC, go to Format and then select either Wrap to Window or Wrap to Page.

Open a Microsoft Excel file if you don't have Microsoft Office

You can ‌use Google Docs to open and view or edit an .xlsx file. Refer to Google's article, Switch from Excel to Sheets.

Once you've downloaded your personal data  from the Intuit Account Manager, use the instructions below to open the files and view them.

Open a .json file with the correct application. Right click on the file and select Open with. Select Notepad for Windows and TextEdit for MAC.

In the Notepad app for Windows, go to Format and then select Word Wrap. In the TextEdit app for MAC, go to Format and then select either Wrap to Window or Wrap to Page.

You can permanently delete your Intuit Account and all of your data from the Intuit Account Manager.

Important: If you delete your Intuit data, all licenses and subscriptions will be canceled. Your data includes personal data you’ve shared with Intuit. Once your data is deleted, we won’t be able to get it back for you.

  1. Sign in to the Intuit Account Manager.
  2. Select Data privacy.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. Select Make a delete request to confirm. Requests can take up to 90 days. During this time, don’t create a new Intuit Account using the same email address, or the new data may also get deleted.

 Follow these steps to start fresh.

The Account activity page lets you see recent sign-ins and their location. This helps you to detect suspicious activity on your account.

  1. Sign in to the Intuit Account Manager.
  2. Select Sign in & security.
  3. Select Account activity.
