Account management
I'm glad you've joined this thread, @sherylc.
Let me share some info on why Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) payment is being rejected and the steps to changing the password in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
EFTPS is rejected due to incorrect Federal e-pay PIN, Federal e-file PIN, and Internet password (for e-pay) is expired. Check out this article for more info: Handle payroll e-file and e-pay rejections.
Then, to change the EFTPS password in QBDT, you'll need to update it first on the EFTPS website. If you're done with this, feel free to follow these steps to change your EFTPS internet password in QBDT:
- Select Payroll Center from the Employees tab.
- Pick the Pay Liabilities option.
- In the Pay Taxes & Other Liabilities section, choose your federal tax, then View/Pay.
- Click E-payment, then e-pay.
- Clear the Remember My Information for Next Time checkbox.
- Enter your 4-digit PIN and the new EFTPS internet password and the missing info.
- Once done, tap Submit.
- The next time you make an e-payment, re-enter your 4-digit PIN and EFTPS internet password. Then, pick Remember My Information for Next Time.
For more info, check out this article: Update your EFTPS internet password for QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.
