Hi there, @terry drone. Syncing your local bank to QuickBooks is easy and I'm here to guide you how.
The process will depend on the QuickBooks program you're using. To get started, please refer to the steps below.
If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO), here's how to sync your local bank:
- Sign in to your QBO account and go to the Banking menu.
- Choose the Banking tab.
- Click the Connect Account option if this is your first time connecting. If you've already created one, select Add account or Link account
- Search for your bank's name or enter your bank's URL.
- Click Continue. Then, type the username and password you use for your bank's website.
- Next, follow the onscreen steps to connect.
You can check this article for more details about the process: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online. It also includes instructions on how you can update your bank info, such as your username or password, or refresh the connection.
If you're using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), you have first to reach your bank to know if there's a fee. Once done, follow the steps below to sync your local bank:
- Open your QBDT program and click the Banking tab.
- Next, go to Bank Feeds.
- Click Set up Bank Feeds for an account.
- From the Enter your Bank’s name field, enter and select your bank.
- If you're enrolling for the first time, you may need to apply for Direct Connect. To do so, click the Enrollment site link.
- If you're already enrolled, just click Continue.
- Type your Online Banking ID and Password.
- Then, select Connect and click the bank account you want to connect
- Select Finish after the connection finishes.
For more information about this, visit this page: Set up bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop. This article also provides steps on how you can import your bank transactions using Web Connect files.
Once transactions are in, you'll now need to categorize and match them in QuickBooks. This is to ensure that they are in the correct account. Feel free to check out the links below:
