Employees & Payroll
Hello nulookpei-yahoo-,
Welcome to Community! When you have an overpayment for your QuickBooks Online Payroll, you would receive a credit notice from CRA. This can be resolved in just a few steps. I would be glad to assist!
There are a couple of reasons you may see tax overpayments. This would occur if pay cheques were voided or deleted after a tax payment was recorded, or if a duplicate tax payment was recorded within the same liability period.
Follow these steps to resolve the payroll tax overpayment, so your reports and tax forms remain accurate;
1. From the left menu, open Payroll, then select Payroll tax
2. Click on Pay in the Actions column
3. Review an entry and select Record payment to check the overpayment
Note; Overpayments appear as negative amounts.
4. If you wish to obtain a refund or apply your overpayment to the next liability period, this can be done by contacting us. To have the refund credited to you, you will need to contact CRA as well.
If the overpayment needs to be applied to a previous year, here's how to Enter historical payroll tax payments.
Feel free to reach out with any other questions. We would be happy to help!
