Subscription issue I experienced

I ordered QBO & didn't care for it as I was used to desktop. I ordered desktop from Walmart for $592. I liked it & decided to cancel QBO, not realizing when I logged in I inadvertently cancelled the desktop that I wanted to keep. After realizing what I done I phoned QB and told the representative what I had mistakenly done. He said I had indeed cancelled the desktop but not to worry as my subscription was paid for and the service should continue until Feb of 2024. A few days later I get these warning on desktop telling me I am losing my service in 6 days. I called QB again & pleaded my case for about 30 minutes. The nice lady told me my subscription was cancelled and I would have to resubscribe . Keep in mind I just paid $592. the week or two before.I resubscribed as I could not afford to lose the service. The new subscription cost me $832. I feel QB should have been more understanding.I love their product. The somewhat good news is Walmart let me return the product & I should get $592. Sorry I just had to vent a little.

I understand this can be difficult for you, glw1951.

It wasn't easy for me to deal with it even though I've had an experience with a similar situation before. Despite the price difference, I appreciate that you've reactivated your subscription.

I understand the importance of taking advantage of Walmart's exclusive discounts would save you a lot of money. There might be an ongoing promotion at Walmart that make their price go leaser to $592 plus taxes.

Our retailer can offer such prices to their customer since they receive discounts from Intuit due to purchasing our product in bulk. We're unable to match that offer. If the promotion is still running, you can request a refund based on our return policy. Then, you may have to buy another one from them to keep the same pricing.

As long as your subscription to QuickBooks Desktop is active, you'll be able to access your company file. All you need to do to resume operations is restored your file. Check out this article for more details: Restore your file.

In case you encounter a problem opening your file, you can read this resource to guide you through the troubleshooting procedure: Can't open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.

I guess I am confused. I reactivated my account so that I wouldn't have my service lost. I am able to access my file now. Are you telling me I am going to lose the file & have to restore it?

Hi there, @glw1951.

Allow me to join the thread and clarify things for you.

Once your QuickBooks Desktop subscription is cancelled, you'll still retain access to your company data file stored on your device, which can be reinstated in a readable QuickBooks Desktop format upon reactivation of your subscription or with the purchase of a license to the software. But since your subscription is active, your files won't be lost, and there's no need to restore them.

To help you manage your QuickBooks Desktop account, here are some articles you may read for more information:

In addition, I recommend checking the cancellation policies if you need to cancel a service. I've included this link for your reference: QuickBooks Desktop cancelation policies.
