I'm happy to be here to help you rectify the issue you are encountering with your QuickBooks.
Here are a few reasons why the error message "There's a new QuickBooks software update waiting for you. Looks like you don't have the needed permissions" appears:
- When QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) isn't run as an administrator.
- Or, there are pending QuickBooks updates that need attention.
I've got guidelines you can follow to fix it. First, run QuickBooks Desktop as an administrator. To do this, right-click the QuickBooks app icon, and choose Run as Administrator.
Next, enter your login credentials as you access your company file. If you can't log in, you can try manually resetting your password. Alternatively, use our Automated password reset tool.
Moving forward, ensure you're in single-user mode. Go to the File menu and then select Switch to Single-user Mode. Then, update your QuickBooks to its latest release after logging in successfully. It will get you the newest features and fixes.
Follow these steps to update your QBDT:
- Go to the Help menu and choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
- Select the Options tab, and then click Mark All.
- Pick Save.
- Proceed to the Update Now tab.
- Check the Reset Update box, and then click Get Updates.
Close and open your QBDT after the upgrade is complete. Restart your computer to refresh the program and apply all the patches.
