Job Costing in QB Online
If I want to track job costing by using projects in QBO, can I create a bogus customer to use just for this purpose? I need to track costs that apply to an inventory part (inbound freight, etc) so they should't apply to a customer because these parts haven't been sold yet. Does anyone have a better idea than using projects? I considered using tags but I have way more inventory than the 300 tag limit so that won't work.

Greetings, @SIGMA03.
In QuickBooks Online (QBO), the Project feature works like Job Costing in QuickBooks Desktop. This feature helps you to be organized and track all moving parts.
Yes, you can create a dummy customer for tracking projects. QBO will allow you to do this. On the other hand, you can also use the Class tracking feature to help track income, expenses, or profitability by business segment.

Thank you for your response. We currently use class tracking for budgets so I can't use classes for job costing. I will look more into Projects.
