Thanks for following this thread, @Carol B Goode. I'm here to guide you in resetting your password so you can log back in again on your QuickBooks Desktop company.

First off, let's identify the type of password you'll need to reset to access the company file.

You need to reset the admin password if:

  • You don’t have to enter a user name. When you sign in you just enter a password.
  • You enter “Admin” or another admin user name you created.

To reset your admin password, you'll need to confirm some information as a security step. If you don’t remember the info, I'll show you how to find it.

Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. At the login window, click the I forgot my password link.
  3. Fill out the information on the form that appears.
  • You’ll need your license number for the version of QuickBooks Desktop you’re using. (Press F2 from the login window to see your license number).
  • The name, email address, phone number, and ZIP code you originally used when you purchased the product.
  1. Click OK. If the info you entered is correct, you’ll receive a code at your registered email address. (This is your “primary email” listed in CAMPS).
  2. Get the code from your email and enter back in QuickBooks Desktop. QuickBooks will then guide you through creating a new admin password.

If the password reset doesn't work:

  1. Double-check the information you entered. Check carefully for typos and confirm the info exactly matches what you have in CAMPS.
  2. If you got an error or still need help resetting your password, try the Automated Password Reset Tool.

I've got you an article with figures and complete guidelines in resetting your password for QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to message again if you need more help with resetting the password. Have a nice day!
