Protecting the privacy and security of your financial information is our top priority. Intuit software products, including QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed, protect your transactions with multiple layers of security so you can bank online with confidence.
The connection for online banking is always "read-only" so that no one can use any of your information in our product to move any money. In addition, we don’t sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for their promotional use.

Key security points
QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Self-Employed financial features take advantage of state-of-the-art encryption and authentication technologies, including Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), digital certificates, and RSA Security Inc. (RSA) encryption to protect the security and privacy of your financial information. Internet security is supported by addressing three key security objectives: Authentication, Privacy, and Integrity.
- Authentication: We require the use of a personal identification number (PIN) and a customer ID number when you access your account or send payment instructions or other information to a financial institution or processor. This is supported by the use of digital certificate technology provided by VeriSign, the leading online certificate authority. No one at Intuit or your financial institution has access to your PIN.
- Privacy: We combine SSL and RSA to provide message encryption when communicating online to maximize the security of your data and to ensure that only the intended audience can read a message or access data. Additionally, QuickBooks Online provides a password feature to ensure that only people with the correct password have access to your financial information.
- Integrity: We use SSL and RSA security technology to provide message integrity and ensure that messages received have not been altered after they have left the sender.
Who has access to my online account through QuickBooks?
To ensure that only the intended audience can read a message or access data, we combine Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol and RSA Security Inc. encryption to provide message encryption when communicating online to maximize the security of your data.
Additionally, QuickBooks Online provides a password feature to ensure that only people with the correct password have access to your financial information.
Your Internet Banking details are stored in an encrypted state that no one at Intuit is able to view or access, even from the back end.
With Multi-factor authentication in place for accessing our products and services, you are protected with an additional layer even if your QuickBooks Online login details were to become compromised.
