How to request a Web Access Code (WAC) in Pro Tax
by Intuit• Updated 1 week ago
A Web Access Code (WAC) is a secure, personalized code provided by the the CRA to make sure your identity when you aren't signed in to a CRA account. The CRA gives this code to tax preparers to file certain business returns and information slips electronically. Using a WAC helps help ensure that the filer's identity is authenticated, adding an extra layer of security to the filing process.
The CRA now needs your business' most recent Notice of Assessment (NOA) or Reassessment (NOR) to request a WAC.
Note: If this is your first time filing and you’re requesting a WAC, call the CRA help desk to get one.
To get a WAC code in Pro Tax, follow these steps:
- Open Pro Tax.
- Open the return you are trying to EFILE.
- From the EFILE dropdown menu, select T2 Federal.
- Select Request a WAC.
- A new window will appear, select Request to get a WAC code. All the information on this screen needs to be correct to continue.
- A success screen will appear and a WAC will be generated.
- Select Continue to EFILE if you’re ready to EFILE or select Back to summary.
Note: You will receive a confirmation number. We recommend saving a copy for your records.
