Request a refund for your QuickBooks product

Find out how to request a refund for a QuickBooks product you purchased, and track the refund status.

You can easily request and track refunds using the Intuit refund request module below. Start by selecting your point of purchase within the box. For more information, as well as the refund policy for each product, select your product below the module.

Note: Refunds for QuickBooks Payments are not currently supported through this process.

Refund policy

In most cases, if you purchased an annual subscription for QuickBooks Online, and it’s within 60 days of the purchase date, you’re eligible for a refund under our satisfaction guarantee. There are some exceptions, so check our return policy for details.

Please note that we don’t offer refunds for QuickBooks Online in the case of technical issues, data loss, outages, loss of business/revenue, or lack of usage/activity.

To request a refund for a QuickBooks Online product you purchased directly from Intuit:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Intuit.
  2. Select the product you are requesting a refund for.
  3. Enter your bill number.
  4. Enter the Associated email.
  5. Select Find my order details.
  6. Review your order details and charges.
  7. Select the item(s) to be refunded.
  8. Select the reason for the refund request.
  9. Provide more details, if applicable.
  10. Fill in your Contact details and Mailing Address.
  11. Select Submit.

To request a refund for a QuickBooks Online product you purchased from another retailer:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select From another retailer.
  2. Select the product family you are requesting a refund for.
  3. Enter your product license code.
  4. Select the retailer you purchased your product from.
  5. Select the Date of charge.
  6. Select Attach Receipt and follow the steps to upload your receipt as a proof of purchase.
  7. Select the reason for the refund request.
  8. Enter the refund amount.
  9. Provide more details, if applicable.
  10. Fill in your Contact details and Mailing Address.
  11. Select Submit.

To request a refund for a QuickBooks Online product you purchased from a mobile app store:

If you made a purchase through an app store (Google Play or the Apple App Store), you need to request a refund through the app store you purchased it from.

To track a refund request for a QuickBooks Online product:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Track refund requests.
  2. Select the product you have requested a refund for.
  3. Enter your case number.
  4. Enter your email address.
  5. Select Track request. Information about your request displays.

To request a refund for a QuickBooks Online Payroll product you purchased directly from Intuit:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Intuit.
  2. Select the product you are requesting a refund for.
  3. Enter your order number.
  4. Enter the Associated email.
  5. Select Find my order details.
  6. Review your order details and charges.
  7. Select the item(s) to be refunded.
  8. Select the reason for the refund request.
  9. Provide more details, if applicable.
  10. Fill in your Contact details and Mailing Address.
  11. Select Submit.

To request a refund for a QuickBooks Online Payroll product you purchased from another retailer:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select From another retailer.
  2. Select the product family you are requesting a refund for.
  3. Enter your product license code.
  4. Select the retailer you purchased your product from.
  5. Select the Date of charge.
  6. Select Attach Receipt and follow the steps to upload your receipt as a proof of purchase.
  7. Select the reason for the refund request.
  8. Enter the refund amount.
  9. Provide more details, if applicable.
  10. Fill in your Contact details and Mailing Address.
  11. Select Submit.

To track a refund request for a QuickBooks Online Payroll product:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Track refund requests.
  2. Select the product you have requested a refund for.
  3. Enter your case number.
  4. Enter your email address.
  5. Select Track request. Information about your request displays.

Refund policy

Please note that we don’t offer refunds for QuickBooks Self-Employed in the case of technical issues, data loss, outages, loss of business/revenue, or lack of usage/activity.

To request a refund for a QuickBooks Self-Employed product you purchased directly from Intuit:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Intuit.
  2. Select the product you are requesting a refund for.
  3. Enter your order number.
  4. Enter the Associated email.
  5. Select Find my order details.
  6. Review your order details and charges.
  7. Select the item(s) to be refunded.
  8. Select the reason for the refund request.
  9. Provide more details, if applicable.
  10. Fill in your Contact details and Mailing Address.
  11. Select Submit.

To request a refund for a QuickBooks Self-Employed product you purchased from another retailer (but not a mobile app store):

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select From another retailer.
  2. Select the product family you are requesting a refund for.
  3. Enter your product license code.
  4. Select the retailer you purchased your product from.
  5. Select the Date of charge.
  6. Select Attach Receipt and follow the steps to upload your receipt as a proof of purchase.
  7. Select the reason for the refund request.
  8. Enter the refund amount.
  9. Provide more details, if applicable.
  10. Fill in your Contact details and Mailing Address.
  11. Select Submit.

To request a refund for a QuickBooks Self-Employed product you purchased from a mobile app store:

To request a refund for a QuickBooks Desktop Payroll product you purchased directly from Intuit:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Intuit.
  2. Select the product you are requesting a refund for.
  3. Enter your order number.
  4. Enter the Associated email.
  5. Select Find my order details.
  6. Review your order details and charges.
  7. Select the item(s) to be refunded.
  8. Select the reason for the refund request.
  9. Provide more details, if applicable.

To request a refund for a QuickBooks Desktop Payroll product you purchased from another retailer:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select From another retailer.
  2. Select the product family you are requesting a refund for.
  3. Enter your product license code.
  4. Select the retailer you purchased your product from.
  5. Select the Date of charge.
  6. Select Attach Receipt and follow the steps to upload your receipt as a proof of purchase.
  7. Select the reason for the refund request.
  8. Enter the refund amount.
  9. Provide more details, if applicable.
  10. Fill in your Contact details and Mailing Address.
  11. Select Submit.

To track a refund request for a QuickBooks Desktop Payroll product:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Track refund requests.
  2. Select the product you have requested a refund for.
  3. Enter your case number.
  4. Enter your email address.
  5. Select Track request. Information about your request displays.

To request a refund on behalf of a wholesale billing client, as an accountant:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Intuit.
  2. From the search by product box, select QuickBooks Online.
  3. Enter your order number and Associated email.
  4. Select Find my order details.
  5. Once your order details have been found, choose the reason for the refund from the dropdown.
  6. Select the QuickBooks Online version that coincides with the clients’ subscription (EasyStart, Essentials, or Plus).
  7. In the provide more details section:
    • Enter the company ID of the client that needs to be refunded.
    • Enter the number of months is the refund for.
    • Add any additional details regarding the reason for the refund.

To track a refund request for a wholesale billing client:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Track refund requests.
  2. Select the product you have requested a refund for.
  3. Enter your case number.
  4. Enter your email address.
  5. Select Track request. Information about your request displays.

Refund policy

If QuickBooks Online Accountant ProTax doesn't meet your expectations, you can request a refund within 14 calendar days from the subscription date of the product. Please note that Electronic File (EFILEs) and Print Returns are not eligible for a refund.

To request a refund for ProTax:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Intuit.
  2. From the search by product box, select QuickBooks Online.
  3. Enter your order number and Associated email.
  4. Select Find my order details.
  5. Once your order details have been found, select the ProTax subscription you want refunded, then select the reason for the refund from the dropdown.
  6. In the provide more details section, please note any additional details regarding the reason for the refund.

To track a refund request for ProTax:

  1. In the Intuit refund request module above, select Track refund requests.
  2. Select the product you have requested a refund for.
  3. Enter your case number.
  4. Enter your email address.
  5. Select Track request. Information about your request displays.
