Request permanent deletion of your Intuit data
by Intuit• Updated 1 month ago
This article explains how to submit a GDPR deletion request to erase your personal data from Intuit, including your QuickBooks Online account data. The process is straightforward but requires a few important steps in the right order.
What data will be deleted?
When you submit a deletion request, Intuit will erase:
- Your Intuit account profile information
- Details you provided directly to Intuit
- Data used in your QuickBooks Online account
- Information collected about your browsers and devices
Please note: Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Before submitting, make sure you have exported any financial data (reports, transactions, VAT returns) that you may need for legal or tax purposes. UK businesses are generally required to retain financial records for 6 years.
Before you submit a deletion request
Your request cannot be processed until all of the following are in order:
- Cancel your QuickBooks subscription. Your subscription must be cancelled before Intuit can process a deletion request. Call 0808 168 9533 or cancel via your account settings.
- Resolve any other outstanding actions on your account. For example: unpaid invoices, pending payroll runs, or open transactions. These must be cleared before your request can go through.
- Export your financial data. Deletion is permanent. Download any reports, transactions, or VAT returns you may need. UK businesses are generally required to retain financial records for 6 years.
- Check for linked accounts. If you use one Intuit ID across multiple products (e.g. QuickBooks Payroll, QuickBooks Time), deletion will apply to all of them. If you have separate IDs, you will need to submit a request for each one.
| Still blocked after completing the above? There may be a backend account issue preventing your request from going through. Use the privacy contact form in the ‘If you’re blocked’ section below. Support agents can escalate directly to the Privacy team. |
