Desktop Pro 2023 subscription to renew fee is being charged?! I am desktop only. We don't use payroll or any on line options. $750 for the year?? I didn't pay it and QB has disabled my desktop. I can't even write checks. This is total BS
I understand that you're frustrated with the situation regarding your Desktop Pro 2023 subscription renewal fee, @RMRICH. Don't worry, I'll share some information about the annual subscription of your QuickBooks version and get you going.
QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2023 is offered as an annual subscription, and prices start at $549.99 per year for one user. However, an email was sent to our accounting professionals, announcing upcoming pricing changes for QuickBooks Desktop products and services. For your version, the new annual price is $649. You can visit this page for the details: QuickBooks Desktop pricing.
Moreover, it's possible that your subscription has already expired which is why it was being disabled. With that, I suggest logging into your CAMPs account through a web browser so you can review any charges made, update your billing information, and renew your subscription. To do so, follow the steps below:
For additional information, check out this link: What is CAMPs and how do I use it?

If you don't mind to use the trial version of QB Desktop 2023, you can use it for good if required.
I am in agreement with RMRICH. The annual subscription fee is ridiculous to those of us who have used Desktop for many years. Our Accountant does not want us to use the online QB service. QB makes it very hard to stick with the online version. I would definitely use a different company/product if I could.
Do you have QB Desktop 2023 Pro Plus for single user?
I am in agreement- I have not been given any good reason why my $407.54 total cost for QB Pro Desktop 2021 (which has been working fine for 3 years) is now going to cost me $549.99 for one year, or $1,649.97 to use it for 3 years. This is ridiculous. I spent over an hour on the QB chat support trying to find the price, then spent 30 minutes on the phone trying just to get the price. Customer service kept wanting to interview me and switch me to online QB. I do not want anything in the cloud. I often use QB when I do not have internet access. The dramatic price increase must be to push people away from Desktop. It would be nice to see a fantastic increase in the quality and value of the product , not just a dramatic increase in the price. What is the least expensive way for me to continue using QB Desktop Pro for a one-person one-computer operation?
total cost for QB Pro Desktop 2021 (which has been working fine for 3 years) is now going to cost me $549.99 for one year
Why do you have to upgrade your version to QB Desktop 2024? You are using QB Desktop 2021 with a non-subscription license. As long as you don't need the bank feed or payroll feature, you will be fine after May 2024. Unless you have other specific concerns.
I have clients who pay by credit card, and was predicting that Merchant Services and credit card payments into my bank account would be gone if I do not upgrade.......is that the case?
Hi there, @TPG Desktop. We'll provide information about the discontinued features inside QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Yes, you're right. Customers who use QBDT 2021 can continue using the program to track the recording side of their business. However, since older versions are subject to discontinuation, there will be changes to functions they can utilize inside the program. Any features or add-ons that use the internet will no longer function inside QuickBooks Desktop.
For more details, you can check the What are the affected 2021 services section inside this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.
If you wish to upgrade to QBDT 2024 to continue using specific features and add-ons, we'll gladly write down the steps to get you going:

Hello Kurt M- if that is your real name-
your answer appears to be a very long response that does not answer my simple question with a YES or NO-
A year from now will QB Pro 2021 Desktop still permit me to receive payments by credit card through your Merchant Services feature? can you answer this without giving a bunch of other non-answer information?
Thank-you
Thanks for your reply, @TPG Desktop.
Allow me to join and clarify some information about QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021 features.
Please know that my colleague updated his answer to clear things up. Yes, the system still allows you to receive payments by credit card through your Merchant Services feature.
However, due to the discontinuation of older versions, some functions may not work, and features or add-ons that use the internet will no longer be supported in QuickBooks Desktop.

You can't use QB Desktop 2021 after May 2024 to work with other Intuit products (e.g QB Payroll, QB Payment). Unless you purchase the license of QB Desktop 2024, you will need a workaround to integrate with a 3rd party merchant service.
I agree with Fiat Lux - ASIA, TPG Desktop.

Great! Lots of QB employees jumping in to sell me on QB Desktop Pro 2024, but no one answered one of the original questions- How can you justify tripling the cost for his product? In 2021 I paid $407.54 for QB Pro Desktop 2021, it was effective for 3 years until you decide I am required to upgrade. Your 2024 version is $650? $550 perhaps for a single user version that only lasts for one year? What happens after one year? does the program delete itself from my computer? One year from when? When I purchase it? From Jan 1, 2024?
Again, HOW CAN YOU JUSTiFY TRIPLING THE COST?
CarneilC says one thing and Kurt M says something else- Can someone clearly provide the answer to this question: One year from now, if I am still using QuickbooksPro Desktop 2021, will I still be able to receive payments from clients via credit card directly to my bank account through the Merchant Services part of the program?
HOW CAN YOU JUSTiFY TRIPLING THE COST?
Because they want you to switch from QB Desktop to QB Online completely.
You can explore to use QB Desktop with a non-subscription license + a 3rd party merchant service.
Hello there, TPG Desktop.
I acknowledge the importance of money when managing a business, particularly in the current situation. Allow me to assist you by providing clarifications and guidance on receiving credit card payments via QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2021.
The desktop software stated above is scheduled to be discontinued after May 31, 2024. This discontinuation will affect the 2021 versions of QBDT Pro, Premier, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, and QBDT Enterprise Solutions v21. Additionally, other Intuit products will be impacted by the discontinuation of this software.
The processing of credit card and check transactions through QBDT 2021, as well as the downloading of their information, will no longer be supported. For a detailed list of features impacted by this discontinuation policy, refer to this reference: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.
We're here to assist you in selecting a new QuickBooks plan to ensure uninterrupted service, along with receiving security updates and accessing all the latest features. To explore the complete list of subscription features for the online program, visit our QuickBooks Online pricing page.

Feel free to reach out to me if you need any further clarification regarding the service discontinuation or any other product-related concerns. I'm here to assist you and will be glad to keep you updated. Have a good one, TPG Desktop.
Great, another QB employee with no useful information. can an employee answer these previously asked questions?:
1. One year from now, if I am still using QuickbooksPro Desktop 2021, will I still be able to receive payments from clients via credit card directly to my bank account through the Merchant Services part of the program?
2. How does Quickbooks justify tripling the cost for me to use Desktop program for three years?
Please, if you are an employee answering these questions, do NOT give me general information and links to prepared sales information. The answer to #1 should be either yes or no. The answer to #2 should NOT tell me that you are giving your customers what they want, because clearly you are not
#1 - had you clicked the link about discontinued services, you would see:
(not a fanboy - disgusted with this also but…

Monitoring this thread - 25 plus years of using QB desktop and I've had enough. Looking for alternatives, I don't see this crappy situation changing.
Yes, I've been using QB Desktop since 2001, always buying the new version every 3 years or so, it was a reasonable price to pay to help this non-accountant keep track of everything. Now the price is effectively more than tripled. And I'm sure you've noticed that none of the QB employees contributing to this thread have tried to justify the huge price increase, because there is no justification, other than profit. This forced movement to online subscription service is not in our best interests. Please post to this thread what alternatives anyone may find.
I am in total agreement with most users here. Quickbooks has decided to treat their customers of many years with total disregard. These payroll and subscription renewal fees have become absolutely prohibitive for the average small business. In the past the sales model was to provide product enhancements which would encourage you to upgrade product. That coupled with reasonable annual fees for the payroll module is what has led to them being the industry leader of this service with small businesses. A few years ago that changed and minimal if any significant changes were made to the software including not even fixing the dismal slow performance, the poor formatting of the reports , poor formatting of the date column on the register screen.... I could go on. Since no one would willing upgrade to the newest versions they switched to a subscription based model forcing users to upgrade or your software became unusable. About the same time they started implementing additional fees per employee as if it somehow cost more to calculate the payroll for more employees. If you are not providing direct deposit then there is little or no additional expense in calculating the payroll. Intuit knows full well that they have you hostage. They waited for all competitors to essentially drop out of the market then they started ramping up the charges. Finally, no one wants to be a part of your Cloud where your data is easily hacked. Just ask T-Mobile, Delta Dental, MoveIt, Chick-fil-A, and many others about their substantial data breaches. No thanks! Please stop trying to force all users online. Shame on intuit for treating their long term customers this way!
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
Please post to this thread what alternatives anyone may find.
QB Online or other cloud-based accounting applications. Developers only offer ERP class products nowadays if you still prefer to keep your company files in-house.
Desktop.Pro 2021, for now.
