Use QuickBooks Time project posts and activity feed

Learn how to use project posts and the activity feed in QuickBooks Time Elite. 

Using the project posts and activity feed is a great way to share updates from the office or the field for your whole team to see. 

Project posts

Notes:

  • Anyone assigned to the project can view and add posts and replies, including team members.
  • To refresh the posts feed, select Refresh Refresh_QBTime_US_Ext_081023.png in the project posts window.
  • Type @[name] to notify someone in a post. The notification is sent via push on mobile, or found in the notification center on web. Select the notification to be taken directly to the post.

On a computer

View posts:

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to Projects, then select an active project. 
  2. Select Posts.

Add a post:

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to Projects, then select an active project. 
  2. Select Posts, then New Post. 
  3. Enter your note.
  4. If desired, select Attachments Attachments_QBTime_US_Ext_081023.png to add up to 8 attachments.
  5. Select Save.

OR

  1. When clocked into a project, open Time Clock.
  2. Select Add a Project Post. This opens the project’s Posts feed to add your post.

Edit a post:

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to Projects, then select an active project. 
  2. Select Posts.
  3. Next to the post you need to update, select Edit.
  4. Make your changes and select Save.

Delete a post:

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to Projects, then select an active project. 
  2. Select Posts.
  3. Next to the post you need to remove, select Delete.
  4. Select Delete again to confirm.

Reply to a post:

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to Projects, then select an active project. 
  2. Select Posts.
  3. Select Post reply.
  4. Enter what you would like to say, then select Reply.

On QuickBooks Workforce

View posts:

  1. In the Workforce app, select Projects.
  2. Select an active project, then select Posts.

Add a post:

  1. In the Workforce app, select Projects.
  2. On an active project, select Posts, then Add (+).
  3. Enter your note.
  4. If desired, select Attachments Attachments_QBTime_US_Ext_081023.png or Photos Camera_QBTime_US_Ext_052223.png to add attachments or photos, then select Save.

Edit a post:

  1. In the Workforce app, select Projects.
  2. On an active project, select Posts.
  3. Next to the post you need to update, select More optionshorizontal.
  4. Select Edit post, make your changes, and select Save.

Delete a post:

  1. In the Workforce app, select Projects.
  2. On an active project, select Posts.
  3. Next to the post you need to update, select More optionshorizontal, then Delete post.

Reply to a post:

  1. In the Workforce app, select Projects.
  2. On an active project, select Posts.
  3. Select Comment threads.
  4. Enter your reply, then select Reply reply.

Project activity 

Notes:

  • Anyone assigned to the project can view the activity feed, including team members.
  • To refresh the activity feed, select Refresh Refresh_QBTime_US_Ext_081023.png in the project activity window.
  • The activity feed isn’t available on QuickBooks Workforce. 

View the Activity feed: 

  1. In QuickBooks Time, go to Projects, then select an active project. 
  2. Select Activity. This feed displays actions taken on the project:
    • Clock in and out
    • Added posts and photos
    • Added locations, with map
    • Any additions or edits to the project details, including new tasks and estimates.
