Get help if you can't sign in to your QuickBooks Online account

Learn what to do if you can't sign in to QuickBooks Online.

If you’re having trouble signing in to your account, we’re here to help you get in. Here’s some common sign in issues and how to fix them.

  1. From the sign in page, select I forgot my user ID or Password.
  2. Enter your phone number or email address, then select Continue.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions. If you used your email address to verify your account, you'll receive an email with your user ID.

Note: If you don’t see an email from us within an hour, check your spam or junk folder. If you still don’t have the email, you’ll need to request your user ID again.
If you don’t have access to the email you used when you created your account, you can send us a request to recover your account.

  1. From the sign in page, select I forgot my user ID or Password.
  2. Enter your phone number, email address, or user ID, then select Continue.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions. If you used your email address to verify your account, you'll receive an email with a password reset link.

Note: The password reset link is active for 24 hours.

Your old password could still be saved in your internet browser. Try to enter your password manually, if you still can’t sign in you’ll need to clear the data so you can use your new password. Once you’ve done this, close your browser and reopen it.

This happens because your browser might be automatically filling in your old password or user ID.

  1. From the sign in page, select I forgot my user ID or Password.
  2. Once you reset your password and can get into your account, select the Intuit account icon, then Manage your Intuit Account.
  3. Select Sign in & security and verify your user ID.

If you’re asked for a confirmation code after you sign in:

  1. Select how you’d like to receive your confirmation code, then select Continue.
  2. If you can’t access the email account or phone number listed, select the option Confirm my account a different way.
  3. Retrieve the confirmation code.
  4. Enter the confirmation code, then select Continue.

If you can't verify your account by having a code emailed to your registered email address, you can send us a request to recover your account.

  1. From the sign in page, select Create an account.
  2. Enter your email address and phone number.
  3. Create a password, then confirm it, and select Continue.

If you have a user ID with your invitation, it should ask you to sign in. If not, you’ll have a link to create one with the email address the invite was sent to. After you create a user ID, you’ll be able to sign in.

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Help (?) at the top right.
  3. In QB Assistant, enter the topic you need help with. You can also enter questions
  4. Select Contact Us to reach out to our support team.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
  • Start a chat with a support expert available (6 A.M - 6 P.M) Mon-Fri and (6 A.M - 3 P.M) UTC.
  • Ask the community to get help from businesses like yours.

If you’re still unable to access your account

  1. From the sign in page, select I forgot my user ID or Password.
  2. Select Try Something Else.
  3. Select Talk to an expert.
  4. Complete the required fields. Then select Submit to connect to an expert via Chat.
