Use a QuickBooks Online subscription purchased through a retailer

Learn how to activate your subscription for QuickBooks Online purchased through a retail store.

You may purchase QuickBooks Online from a retail partner like Best Buy, Staples, Costco (online only) or Amazon. The following options are currently available through retail channels: QuickBooks Online Simple Start, QuickBooks Online Essentials and QuickBooks Online Plus.

You’re provided a voucher that must be activated before the expiry date. You can find the date printed on your voucher.

Product activation

If you purchased a QuickBooks Online subscription through a retailer, you’ll need to visit the QuickBooks Online subscription activation page to set up and activate your account.

The product you’ve purchased comes with a 12-month subscription (15 months for Licences purchased through Costco with the free additional months Promo). The subscription starts the day you activate it.. When you renew, your subscription continues as a monthly billed subscription, or you can opt to change to an annual frequency.

Limitations

The following options are unavailable during the initial subscription period:

• Change plans for your subscription.
• Make changes to billing frequency.
• Add annual add-ons.

You’ll be prompted to renew your subscription prior to the end of your subscription. We recommend you enter your payment information as soon as possible so that upon renewal, your payment will be made automatically.

1. Select Settings.
2. Select Account and settings.
3. Select Billing and subscription.

You’ll see the product you’ve purchased as well as when it’s up for renewal. To capture your payment information, select the Renew button. You’ll be charged the then-current monthly subscription price, plus applicable tax.
