About Personalized Onboarding with Mailchimp

When you purchase a Marketing plan, we want to help you onboard quickly and with confidence. As part of a Standard or Premium plan, you’ll have access to a personalized onboarding specialist, who'll meet with you 1:1 during your first 90 days to help you get started faster to meet your business goals.

Here are some things to know before you begin this process.

  • Mailchimp’s personalized onboarding services are available for new users with a Standard or Premium plan for the first 90 days after account creation. Schedule your first session at any point during your first 90 days.
  • Your pricing plan determines the personalized onboarding service you’re eligible for. To learn more about the features included in each pricing plan, check out About Mailchimp Pricing Plans.
  • Mailchimp's onboarding services are available in English and Spanish. Premium plans can also use onboarding services in Portuguese.

How it works

Mailchimp offers 2 onboarding experiences with your paid Marketing plan. Both experiences are designed to help users get started with ease by providing hands-on personalized support from specialists. New customers of a Standard plan, or existing customers who upgrade their plan receive 1 60-minute consultation. New customers on a Premium plan or existing customers that upgrade to a Premium plan within the first 90 days are eligible for up to 4 consultations with an onboarding specialist.

After you create and verify a new paid Marketing account or upgrade your plan, you’ll reach your account dashboard. The first time you access your account dashboard, an onboarding pop-up appears. If you want to begin right away, click Schedule a product tour to schedule your 1:1 consultation at a time you choose. If you're not quite ready, you’ll see the onboarding pop-up the next time you log in to your account.

Onboarding experiences

Personalized Onboarding includes a 1:1 consultation with an onboarding specialist. In addition, you’ll receive ongoing support from the Technical Support team.

Here’s what you can expect with each paid Marketing plan.

Standard plans

  • 60-minute personalized consultation
    Standard plan customers get 1 60-minute personalized consultation with an onboarding specialist to discuss your marketing goals, explore tasks like importing contacts, sending your first email, or setting up a Customer Journey. You’ll get a product tour of the Mailchimp platform and will have the opportunity to address any specific questions. The Standard plan experience is a 1:1 phone call and screen share consultation. The Onboarding Specialist will show you how to share your screen.
  • Ongoing support
    After you onboard, you’ll have ongoing support from our Technical Support team. To learn more about your support options after onboarding, check out Mailchimp Support Options.

Premium plans

  • Personalized consultations
    Premium plan customers get up to 4 weekly personalized consultations with an onboarding specialist to discuss your business goals and objectives and create a tailored action plan. The Premium plan experience is a 1:1 live video consultation. You’ll learn about Mailchimp’s marketing tools and receive an in-depth product tour of Mailchimp’s features to see how they can help you accomplish your marketing goals. After your first consultation, the onboarding specialist coordinates additional sessions that you can use to dive deeper into topics you choose. This may look like a calendar invite, a personalized email, or pre-recorded video. You can choose your preferred format for every experience after your first session. As you wrap up the onboarding period, you’re encouraged to ask any outstanding questions and gather additional resources.
  • Ongoing support
    After you onboard, you’ll have ongoing support from our Technical Support team. To learn more about your support options after onboarding, check out Mailchimp Support Options.

Schedule onboarding consultation

To schedule your consultation with an onboarding specialist, follow these steps.

  1. Create and verify a new Standard or Premium account. If you're an existing user on a Free plan or Essentials plan, you’ll need to upgrade to schedule your consultation.

  2. On your account dashboard, click Schedule a product tour in the onboarding pop-up.

    To delay the onboarding process, click Remind me later. The pop-up will disappear from your current screen, then reappear the next time you log in to your Mailchimp account. If you click on the X icon to close the window, you’ll permanently remove this pop-up.

  3. On the scheduling page, select an available date and time for your 1:1 consultation. The unavailable dates are grayed out.

    For Standard plans, you also need to enter your preferred phone number for your call. Your onboarding specialist will call the preferred phone number at your scheduled time and will assist you with sharing your screen to review your account.

  4. On the confirmation page, review your meeting information and assigned onboarding specialist, then check your email inbox for full booking details.

    A calendar invite is sent to the email address used to create your Mailchimp account. It comes directly from your assigned onboarding specialist with “Mailchimp Onboarding” in the subject line. If you don’t see the calendar invite in your inbox within a few minutes, search your spam folder for your onboarding specialist’s name.

  5. For Premium plan customers, accept the video conference invitation in your email to add the session to your email calendar.

  6. If you need to reschedule or cancel, click the corresponding links in your email.

If you want your Premium plan personalized onboarding experience to include additional live video consultations, your onboarding specialist will coordinate scheduling with you. If you prefer personalized emails or pre-recorded videos, your onboarding specialist will share those with you.

How to make the most of your onboarding consultation

Onboarding specialists are trained professionals who are ready to help with your Mailchimp questions and goals. They’re real people with real Mailchimp knowledge.

Here are some items to consider to prepare for your call with the onboarding specialist:

  • For best results, we recommend that you prepare questions or goals you’d like to discuss with your onboarding specialist prior to your meeting time.
  • Log into your account to ensure your email and password are working.
  • Take a few minutes to explore the platform.
  • During your session, share important details about your business. Talk about your goals and timelines and make sure you focus on tasks that have the biggest impact.
  • Ask as many questions as you need to. This is the space to do it!
  • Upload your contact list if it’s ready.
