Accept a cash payment in the GoPayments mobile app

Learn how to accept a cash payment in the GoPayments mobile app.

If you have QuickBooks Payments, you can use the GoPayments mobile app to take and process your customers’ payments. Here’s how you can take cash payments in the app.

Note: You can view the cash payment transactions when you tap Money-in from the main menu. You can’t void a cash sale.

QuickBooks Online

If you haven’t yet, download the QuickBooks Online app first for iOS or Android.

  1. Open the GoPayment app.
  2. Sign in to your Intuit account.
  3. Tap +. Then tap which transaction you want to take the cash payment for:
  1. Tap the customer’s name.
  2. Enter the cash amount.
    Tip: You can tap + Add reference number and memo if you want to enter additional info.
  3. Tap Charge , then tap Cash.
  4. Enter the cash amount you received. GoPayment automatically calculates the change due.
  5. Tap Tender .

    Note: If you want to send a copy of the receipt to your customer via email or SMS, enter their email or phone number. Tap Send, then tap Done. Otherwise, tap No receipt.
  1. From the customer list, find your customer then tap their name to take a cash payment.
  2. Tap the invoice(s) you want to take the cash payment for.
  3. Tap Charge . Then tap Cash.
  4. Enter the cash amount you received. GoPayment automatically calculates the change due.
  5. Tap Tender .

    Note: If you want to send a copy of the receipt to your customer via email or SMS, enter their email or phone number. Tap Send, then tap Done. Otherwise, tap No receipt.
  1. From the customer list, tap the customer you want to make an invoice for. Then, collect the cash payment from that customer.
  2. Enter the amount due for the invoice. You can add notes in the Optional description field.
    Note: If you want to add a sales tax, tap Add next to Tax. Then, tap the rate you want to apply. Tap Save to save the sales tax rate.
  3. Tap Save invoice.
  4. Tap Take a payment, then tap Charge .
  5. Tap Cash. Then enter the cash amount you received for the invoice. GoPayment automatically calculates the change due.
  6. Tap Tender .

    Note: If you want to send a copy of the receipt to your customer via email or SMS, enter their email or phone number. Tap Send, then tap Done. Otherwise, tap No receipt.
  1. Tap the item(s) you want to make a sale for. If you don’t see the item(s) on the list, you may add them.
    Note: GoPayment automatically calculates the amount.
  2. Tap Add customer to tag the sale to an existing customer. If you don’t see your customer’s name on the list, you can add them.
    Notes:
    • GoPayment automatically applies the sales tax you set for each customer when you select them.
    • If you want to give your customer a discount, tap Add next to Discount. Then, tap the discount rate you want to apply. You can also set a custom discount in the Custom discount field.
  3. Tap Charge . Then, tap Cash.
  4. Enter the cash amount you received for the sale. GoPayment automatically calculates the change due.
  5. Tap Tender .

    Notes:
    • If you want to send a copy of the receipt to your customer via email or SMS, enter their email or phone number. Tap Send, then tap Done. Otherwise, tap No receipt.
    • If you want to give your customer a printed receipt, tap Print receipt. Set your preferences, then tap Print.

QuickBooks Desktop

If you haven’t yet, download the QuickBooks Desktop app first for iOS or Android.

  1. Open the GoPayment app. 
  2. Sign in to your intuit account.
  3. Tap ITEMS, then tap the item(s) you want to make a sale for. If you don’t see the item(s) you can add them.
    Note: GoPayment automatically calculates the amount.
  4. Tap A blue sign with numbers on it in a blue sky. to proceed. Then, tap Cash.
  5. Enter the cash amount you received. Then, tap Next.
    Note: GoPayment automatically calculates the change due.

    If you want to send a copy of the receipt to your customer via email or SMS, enter their email or phone number. Tap Send, then tap Done. Otherwise, tap No receipt.
