Can't buy QuickBooks Desktop as a new US subscriber

QuickBooks plans to stop selling several versions to new US subscribers. The deadline to purchase new subscriptions of the listed products has been extended from July 31, 2024 to September 30, 2024.

What products will Intuit no longer be selling and what is the effective date?

Intuit has made a decision that after September 30, 2024, it'll no longer sell new subscriptions of the following products:

  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Mac Plus
  • QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll

This change doesn't impact existing subscribers. Existing QuickBooks Desktop Plus and Desktop Payroll subscribers can continue to renew their subscriptions after September 30, 2024*. We will continue to provide security updates, product updates, and support for existing subscribers.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise products are also not impacted by this change and customers can continue to purchase Enterprise subscriptions after September 30, 2024.

What regions are affected by this decision?

This decision for QuickBooks Desktop applies to the U.S. only.

Are current subscriptions to QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Mac Plus, and Desktop Enhanced Payroll going to be discontinued (sunset)?

This is applies to new purchases only. Existing subscribers of these products can continue to renew their subscriptions after September 30, 2024*. This only impacts new subscription purchases. We will continue to provide security updates, product updates, and support for existing subscribers.

Can a new customer buy QuickBooks Desktop Plus (Pro, Premier, or Mac) or Enhanced Payroll products before September 30, 2024 and continue to renew?

Yes, any customer who have purchased a QuickBooks Desktop Plus or Enhanced Payroll subscription prior to September 30, 2024 will be able to continue to renew after September 30, 2024*.

How do I purchase QuickBooks Desktop Plus (Pro, Premier, or Mac) or Desktop Enhanced Payroll before the cut-off date?

Can I renew a suspended QuickBooks Desktop Plus subscription?

Yes, you can renew your suspended QuickBooks Desktop Plus subscription.

How long do I have to resolve any billing or payment issues?

For any billing or payment issues, we notify you via email. Intuit provides a grace period of 30 days to renew your subscription after the final notice has been sent out.

Is QuickBooks Enterprise affected by this change?

No. QuickBooks Enterprise isn't affected by this decision. New and existing Enterprise customers can continue to purchase or renew subscriptions from phone sales agents and online after September 30, 2024.

QuickBooks Enterprise offers multiple software packages with payroll included. What happens if I am currently on an unsupported version of QuickBooks Desktop?

It’s important to remain on an active, supported version of QuickBooks Desktop. Otherwise, you won't have access to live technical support if you run into problems or have access to any of the other Intuit add-on services that can be integrated with QuickBooks Desktop. This includes QuickBooks Desktop Payroll, QuickBooks Desktop Payments, and online bank feeds. Unsupported versions also don't receive the latest critical security patches and updates.  

We encourage customers on standalone QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Mac versions 2021 and older to consider moving to QuickBooks Online where you'll,

  • always be on the most current version
  • have more efficient workflows
  • have the flexibility to work from anywhere, so you can spend less time at the office and get more done. .

For customers not yet ready to move to QuickBooks Online, we encourage them to purchase a QuickBooks Desktop Plus subscription before September 30, 2024*
