Troubleshoot Workers’ Compensation report in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll

SOLVEDby QuickBooks1Updated April 20, 2023

Learn how to fix your Workers’ Compensation reports in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

If you encounter errors, missing, or incorrect info on your Workers' Comp reports, it may be due to your settings or rates.

To learn how to create or print Workers’ Comp reports, see Run payroll reports for more info.

Available Workers’ Compensation reports in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll:

  • Workers Comp Summary
  • Workers Comp by Code and Employee
  • Workers Comp by Job Summary
  • Workers Comp Detail
  • Workers Comp Listing

Here are some scenarios and how to fix them.

Set your Workers’ Compensation preferences to exclude or include overtime premiums (as required by your workers compensation carrier) and rerun the report.

Check out Set up manual Workers' Compensation to learn how to enter the correct rate for the code and date.

You can't set up your Experience Modification Factor retroactively. If you forgot to set it up, take the total in the WC Premium column and multiply it by your Experience Modification Factor to get your Adjusted Workers Compensation Premium.

Check out Set up manual Workers' Compensation to learn how to set up your Experience Modification rate.

You can change the rate, but it won't affect individual paycheck transactions. However, it will update all your Workers' Compensation reports.

If there's a difference between the totals on the reports and your liability totals (which are calculated based on paycheck data), you may have to make a manual adjustment.

Check out Set up manual Workers' Compensation to find out how to enter the correct rate for your Experience Modification rate and its effective date.
