Sign up for QuickBooks Online with a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. You should have a US billing address (excluding US territories) and you can only use one card per payment. Direct Debit, PayPal, and Automated Clearing House (ACH) are also supported.

A billing cycle keeps your account active. You can pay monthly or save 10% with annual payments.

To resubscribe an inactive account, use the same payment method and billing frequency as before. You can switch to a different payment method and billing frequency after signing up again.

Note: You can first sign up for a monthly subscription and finish the 30-day billing cycle before you switch to annual billing.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Select Settings , then select Subscriptions and billing.
  3. Review the information in each section.
  4. Select View payment history to view the last 6 months’ bills.

iTunes may charge a new card when your card issuer updates your details. They make sure that services like Apple Music subscriptions keep going even with a new card.

Sometimes, charges may still happen on expired cards. If you have any concerns, contact your card issuer or bank.

Before you update your payment schedule, take note of the following:

  • You can save 10% on annual billing.
  • When you switch your billing plan, you'll get money back for the unused portion of  your old plan.
  • When switching from annual to monthly billing:
    • You might need to wait 30 days before your next payment.
    • We'll refund any unused time left on your old plan that we can't transfer to your new plan.
    • You can renew a canceled or terminated annual subscription to a monthly plan. Renew it first as an annual plan, then switch to monthly billing.
  • If you have a payroll subscription, you can switch to annual billing for the payroll base fee. You'll get billed a monthly fee for each employee and additional states you run payroll for.

Transfer the billing of your QuickBooks Online subscription from your accountant to yourself. Resubscribe to your plan and enter your credit card details to pay. The current prices determine your subscription. Your accountant will receive a notification for this change.

When you update billing details, you might see these error messages:

  • Something's not quite right.
  • It looks like there was a problem on our end. Select Save again.
  • Blank page/screen (unable to enter billing details).
  • Subscription-error billing.

We can fix this. When you update your subscription and billing details:

  • Make sure you complete all fields for subscription and billing.
  • Verify your credit card details.
  • The billing address for the credit card doesn't have to match the address in the QuickBooks settings.

Note: QuickBooks uses the physical business address in its settings to calculate sales tax. This doesn't have to match the billing/card address.
