Edit a payroll paycheck

You may need to edit a paycheck you've already created. For example, you may need to add a pay type, update hours, or edit the check number.

The way you edit a paycheck in QuickBooks Online Payroll Full Service depends on where you are in the payroll process.

QuickBooks Online Payroll Full Service

Not yet submitted to Intuit

If you're in the middle of your regularly scheduled payroll and haven't yet submitted the paycheck to Intuit, then select Back and make the necessary changes.

After it's been submitted to Intuit

Before the pay date:

  1. In the left navigation bar, select Payroll menu.
  2. Select Employees.
  3. Select Employee's name, then select Paycheck list. If the status shows Not processed yet, you can delete and recreate the paycheck.
  4. Select the checkbox next to the pay date.
  5. Select the Delete button.
  6. Select Yes when you see the confirmation message.
  7. Go back to the Employee list and recreate the paycheck.

After the pay date:

  1. In the left navigation bar, select Payroll menu.
  2. Select Employees.
  3. Select Employee name, then select Paycheck list.
  4. If the status shows Processed, contact us (live chat) for further assistance.

Intuit Full Service Payroll

Not yet submitted to Intuit

If you're in the middle of your regularly scheduled payroll and haven't yet submitted the paycheck to Intuit, select Back and make the necessary changes.

After it's been submitted to Intuit

Before the pay date:

  1. On the Home page, under Related Activities, select View Paycheck List. If the status shows Not processed yet, you can delete and recreate the paycheck.
  2. Select the checkbox next to the pay date.
  3. Scroll down to the end of the paycheck list, then select the Delete button.
  4. Select Payday and recreate the paycheck.

After the pay date:

  1. On the Home page, under Related Activities, select View Paycheck List.
  2. If the status shows Processed, contact us for further assistance.
