Hello, @jayhawkfoot.

I hope all is well. You're correct about transferring the old QuickBooks from the office to your computer at home. You'll need to install QuickBooks Desktop on your home computer, and I'll provide the steps below on how:

  1. First, make sure your computer meets the system requirements.
  2. Next, download your version of QuickBooks Desktop and save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
  3. Have the product and license number handy, and then open the file you downloaded (QuickBooks.exe).
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions, then accept the software license agreement. Press Next.
  5. Then, enter the product and license number, push Next.
  6. Choose between an Express install or a Custom and Network install.
  7. Finally, you'll need to Active QuickBooks Desktop.

Now you can transfer the company file over via the document folder. You can also pay bills and do payroll with ease now that the program is installed on your home computer. You may find this article helpful in the process: Fix QuickBooks Desktop install errors.

Should you have any other questions, I'm only a comment away. Take care!
