Upgrade to an ANZ direct bank connection in QuickBooks Online

by Intuit1 Updated 3 months ago

ANZ Bank has notified us that a security change will be made that will impact ANZ standard bank feeds. When this security change is implemented, your ANZ standard bank feed may stop working.

To help keep your books accurate, upgrade your connection from ANZ standard feeds to ANZ direct feeds as soon as possible.

This article will guide you through:

  1. Upgrading from your ANZ standard feed to an ANZ direct connection
  2. Troubleshooting your ANZ direct connection
  3. Importing transactions from within/before the transition period
  4. Identifying impacted clients (for Accountants and ProAdvisors only)

Before you start

Direct feeds take just minutes to set up (transactions will be visible within 1-2 business days), are no-cost, and provide a stable and reliable connection to most personal and business account types.

Connect by logging in with your internet banking username and passwordConnect your bank account by either completing a Client Authority form or enabling the connection from an Internet Banking setting for Westpac and ANZ accounts
Transactions start flowing into QuickBooks immediately after the connection is set up successfullyYour bank provides QuickBooks with bank transaction data daily, and we bring them into your QuickBooks company
All bank account types are supported, even loan and term deposit accountsNot all bank account types are supported
QuickBooks logs onto your internet Banking and screen scrapes your account's transactions to bring them into your QuickBooks companyYour bank provides QuickBooks with bank transaction data directly and on a daily basis, then we bring them into your QuickBooks company
Any time you update your bank account credentials, you have to update this in QuickBooks as well to continue receiving transactionsUpdating your bank account credentials will not interrupt transactional data from flowing into your QuickBooks company

We also ask that you don’t disconnect your standard bank feed before your new direct bank feed has been successfully established. This will help ensure that no transactions are lost in the transition.

If you are connecting multiple ANZ bank accounts to QuickBooks, please repeat this process for each account.

Ensure this is the QuickBooks Online account that holds the accounts you want to upgrade.

From either Business or Accountant view, here's a quick link to the Banking tab (take me there).

Savings and Transaction account connection screen:

Please note that most ANZ accounts, for both business and personal customers, can be linked to QuickBooks. These include loan, transaction, savings, and funds management accounts. Unfortunately, asset finance products, ANZ smart choice super and foreign currency accounts aren’t eligible for bank feeds.

Credit Card connection screen:

Please note that direct bank feeds are supported for all ANZ Credit Cards.

  • If upgrading a credit card account, ensure you enter the Account Name in the 'Account Name' field.
  • To link the transaction data from your credit card you’ll need to use the account the credit card is associated with.
  • Use the Account Number in the field labelled 'Account Number'. You can find your 16-digit account number on your ANZ bank statement.
  • Historical transactions are not available from ANZ direct bank feeds. You'll need to import these via a manual upload.
  • If you are upgrading from a standard feed, QuickBooks will seamlessly change the connection type without any missing transaction data.

Your Unique reference number is your Company ID.

Tip: See the ANZ bank feed guide for more information.

.

ANZ calls to 'Exclude the last 3 characters when entering your Company ID'. For a successful connection, enter your entire Company ID and do not exclude any digits.

The ANZ direct bank feeds connection process is now complete. Your data will start syncing within 1-2 business days.

Troubleshooting you ANZ direct connection

For any issues encountered throughout this process, please refer to our guide on troubleshooting ANZ direct feeds.

Importing transactions from within/before the transition period

Direct bank feeds download transactions from the date of connection. If you find some transactions are missing in QuickBooks Online that appear on your ANZ bank statement, you can import missing or historical data via manual uploads.

Identifying impacted clients

All of our trusted ProAdvisors and Accountants will be receiving emails identifying which of their clients will need to take action and upgrade their feeds. If you need additional help or have questions, you can reach out to your account manager directly.
