FX 2024 XML files are not being accepted through Represent a Client portals.

I am using Profile FX to prepare the 2024 T4's for my clients.  When I try to upload the .XML file from Profile through the Represent a Client portal an error message comes up and will not allow me to continue with the efile.

This is the error message I am getting:

Error: We are unable to process your submission because the transmitter CRA account number given in the attached T619 electronic transmittal record does not match the account number you used to sign in.

I have double checked my account numbers and Rep ID in Profile and they are correct and I use the same Rep ID to logon to the Represent a Client account.

Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

This works for T4s.  I still have errors with T5s.

Solution to:

"Error: We are unable to process your submission because the transmitter CRA account number given in the attached T619 electronic transmittal record does not match the account number you used to sign in."

If filing Client T4s through Represent a Client:

1. go into EFILE / Options / T3/FX / Transmitter, and

2. change Business Number to your Client's CRA Business Number ending in RP000X.

This is prepopulated with your own Business Number and must be changed to your Client's Business Number (in this case, their Payroll number).

Hi, can you try to enter the business number 15 digits  in EFILE Options in Profile? If this does not work try to enter  only enter the RepId.

I am confused

When I efile T4 slips I do so by creating the XML file and then going into Represent a Client and filing through there. That way I do not need a WAC.

The solution I have had to resort to, is the one that I have seen most often in messages here, that being to go into Efile -- Option --T3/FX and change the transmitter number  so that it agrees with the client's business number

Here is my confusion.

I thought that the many many options settings were set once and then left alone. These are to make the software work as best as possible for each individual user.

So why do we have to change a setting in there for each client

When generating the XML file, why doesn't the software pick up the information that we input into the Employer's account number area.

Why are WE having to do something that the software should be able to do quite easily?

Thank you, maybe there is a flaw in the software and it should be able to recognize the client's business number on the T4 return, but at least I can efile my clients' T4 returns.  That's what is important to me.

Hi Larry, thanks for your remark, its unlikely that this will be changed for this current tax year, but there will certainly be changes coming  in the future.

CRA told me this morning that there are many changes going on with this process.  The normal RZxxxx for my business number does not work when I file for clients' T4s.  I was told to use my RPxxxx number but I had to get a new WAC for that number.

I tried that but it does not work either and I get the error messages spoken about in this stream.  There has been zero communication from CRA regarding any of the changes that they are doing and, to top it off, their website is breaking down with no one answering the phone.

I might try, as suggested, using the client's PRxxxx number but the question I would have would be will my WAC work using their number.  I cannot always go online to the client's CRA account because I do not have access to all of them but I can (or used to) still be able to file their T4 slips.  I hope I can, anyway.

What is working for me is....

Prepare the T4. Or the T5

Go into the Efile options and change the transmitter number to the client's business number, including RP0001 (I have not have to change this in this location to RZX001 for T5; RP0001 works fine here)

Tell the software to efile the return. Confirm that I am efiling a T4 or a T5. Once the software generates an XML file DO NOT continue in the software. If you do, the you do need a Web Access Code (WAC) which I do not have for most of my clients. Make a note of the location of the XML file, or move the XML file to another location if you wish.

On a browser log in to Represent a Client and then enter the client's business number in order to access their account (for which I have previously been authorized).

Go in the Payroll account (to file a T4) or the Information Slips section (to file a T5)

Tell the account that you want to file a return. As you go through the process you will upload the XML file that you just generated. You will not need a WAC.

You will be successful

Having said all of that, it is stupid that the Profile software is making us change the Transmitter number in the options section. The software should just be picking that number up from the business number on the information page. Simple solution to a problem that is causing grief for so many people.

THanks for this Larry, you comment is noted.    We have an article for Profile entries that might be useful here....
