My client's surname was misspelled on his T4, but I have correct spelling.
Where do I enter "2" to indicate my file has correct spelling of his surname?

On the Info screen in Profile, try answering "yes" to "Last name changed in 2022?" (right under where the Last name shows). See if that then lets you e-file. I suspect that answering Yes to that question will change some internal e-file binary code from 1 to 2, or from 0 to 2. I cannot locate the code myself - let me know if that works.
If CRA's records are different, it would not be from the T4. That does not establish the CRA name field. They may ask for support, such as the birth certificate when they get back to work and start reviewing tax returns.
If you mean you have the correct name in his T1 file, then I am not aware of anything you have to do. As long as the correct social insurance number is on the T4 slip, that is how CRA matches the slips to the taxpayers, not by any words (name or otherwise) entered on the T4 slip.
His T4 was filed with CRA with a misspelled surname. I have to correct spelling and need to indicate code 2 as the surname change code, but I don't know where I put that code 2.
Did you file the T4? If so, you refile the T4 marking it as amended on the T4 Summary, or if paper-filed you just type "amended" across the top. If you are not the employer, I am not sure where you are seeing about putting a "2" anywhere. Can you direct me to a source?
Thanks for your help. I did not file the original T4 with the spelling mistake, but I am trying to E-file a tax return and it is being rejected because it does not match CRA records. CRA Result Code 184, E-file error code 43
The error message is: Your client's first and or last name does not agree with the information on the CRA's records. Please confirm that you have the correct SIN and name for this taxpayer. If the information you entered was correct and a name change is required, enter "2" as the surname change code.

You are correct! Once I changed "Last name changed in 2022 to Yes" I was able to E-file.
Thanks for your assistance! Much appreciated.
